its really good, not particularly dark if i remember correctly. if you want some first-person depravity, alcoholism, furious masturbation/sex and general self destruction, try Bukowski's Post Office. Its nice and short, same as Catcher in the Rye, and is a great read.

Sounds good...one of my favouritist possessions is, a bicycle chain...link remover and putter back tool.

Its ace...I carried it for years without need, then somewhere in a field, in a field in Hampshire, my chain snapped. The little tool pushes out a rivet, and then enables you to push it back in to an unbroken link...pretty much fucked without it. Every home should have one.

Darn right, some sexy warm value amps would be a treat. My mates doing Audio Engineering in some audio college in Byron Bay, apparently the best in the world, and just rants about the equipment there and the value amps especially.

I just bought this baby...  ;)

A Wii (which is a shared family present purchased two months ago)
Some boxers
Some socks - quite a lot of socks in fact
Jamie Oliver's Ministry of Food Book - from my wife. Its important to note that I've bought her that book for her birthday in two days time.........I think she wants me to do more cooking
A Bluetooth Headset
A jumper
National Trust Membership - now for fucks suck, I know I'm nearly 40 but that's taking the piss......but having said that, having a passion for photography it might come in handy
A metal detector - trust my mother-in-law to source the most useless present of the year, never fucking fails. Back to buying me Swindon shirts next year please......
And some fucking game jobby that I don't understand and will rot nicely in the attic

Following this nice debate about audio gear, I have a nice Denon separates setup that I'm looking to get rid of in exchange for a few notes. Serious interest by PM please and I've give you full details.

Just finished one of the books i got for Christmas, so thought i'd mention it here and state it was great.

True story about a bloke who was part of a team who worked shit loads of money out of casinos over years, not by card counting but by switching bets, and various psychological tricks depending on the game and the win.

He also tells an ace true story of a bloke he met in a casino who went from skint and owning $1 to $1,000,000 in one night on a hot streak like never before seen. He then goes on to say how he then went from $1,000,000 to 0 again in a week.

The Great Casino Heist - Richard Marcus (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Great-Casino-Heist-Richard-Marcus/dp/1845290054/ref=sr_1_1/276-9831046-4658260?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1230647263&sr=8-1)

I'll add that to my 'stuff to buy' list.

Like a 10 year old I got a PS3 and rather strange but useful STFC cushion, which makes a marvellous head rest.

Couple of online jiggery pokery books, shoes and a tin of Quality Street.

If you like any kind of gambling type stuff you'll love it, although saying that i'm not a gambler, and i loved it.

Some reviews on Amazon imply he's a fake and it's all bollocks, youtube and a documetry on Casino Gambling prove otherwise.

I think I may have heard of him and I’ll definitely check it out.  I love anything like that.

I was actually in Vegas this year playing roulette and the old croupier was giving it plenty of banter with me and the other local chaps on his table.  Much more than croupiers normally ever do, even in Vegas.  Anyway, it was the end of his shift and the place was deserted and as chips went down on the table he was umming and arring in a ‘you don’t want to like that’ style.

Anyway when pushed the fella actually correctly guessed the correct number three times in a row on his last spins and then fucked off having finished his shift.   Stupidly it was only on the 3rd ‘guess’ that anyone laid cash down.

I’ve always wondered if we was very good or just very, very lucky.

Nope, Santa bought them from Currys so they're going back tomorrow. They're quality headphones, the only problem I've had (before them breaking) is the noise leak, but I only use them at home anyway so it's no real beef.

Yeah that's the problem with the open design, though mine don't seem too bad. I mainly got mine for when I play my guitar late at night, with the odd occassion for pc/hi fi use.

Title: Re: Presents!
Post by: Samdy Gray on Friday, January 2, 2009, 21:16:10
Yeah, I got mine to mainly use with the guitar but was a bit disappointed with the sound. It turned out to be the amp rather than the headphones because the amp emulates the headphone jack so it's not the true sound.

I'm not even sure my amp works with headphones. I use a Zoom 2.1u effects pedal and that seems to do the job nicely.
