Title: The mid 90's were brilliant.
Post by: janaage on Wednesday, December 10, 2008, 11:55:22
Discuss.

I'm not sure if I'm just getting rosey eyed with nostalgia but I just had a conversation with a work mate and we came to the above conclusion.

The music, the football, the general vibe etc  Brilliant days.

1998 was my favourite year as a teen - went to Germany and beat the Germans 2-1 in a football match, it was amazing... should probably take it off my C.V. now though.

Euro 96 Took over the Shaw ridge tavern, watched every game there and started loads of the songs in the bar. Got free drinks for most of that summer. It was only 80p a pint and £1 a bottle anyway.

The mini riot after the Germany game was a laugh, made radio1 too :D

No shit, are Blur back???    My first concert was there Parklife tour 93,  i think?

BR coincidently just wacked on a bit of Pulp, in honour of this thread.

Cocaine Socialism...E's and Whizz...Disco 2000 and of course Common People.

The 90's were a blissed out happy time in the Smeeton household....

The 90's where a time when everybody seemed to be popping pills a plenty Reg, with a bag of coke as a chaser... happy times. What has changed? does the music not compliment the 'drug' culture anymore?

Good thread janaage as I don't think that many would disagree that the mid 90's where very very good.

Here's another tune.

Kabbadi was fucking class, indians holding their breath in an area with lines made from rice, playing tag.  Superb.

Euro 96 was fantastic, pissed up pretty much every night for a month, even though Scotland went out it was still a great vibe.

At 4-0 up against the Dutch I think we were quite entitled to take our foot off the gas a touch!

I had a nice Gio Goi baseball type jacket thing.

Leather (not) sleeves and Suede (not) body and blimb burns all over the lining...
