Title: Cars
Post by: Bob's Orange on Saturday, May 14, 2005, 15:04:07
Help, or advice needed. My sister has just bought a Clio 182 and I am getting itchy hands for a new car!!

I currently have £2,500 cash, and an 97 Escort Si with 65k on the clock in average condition.  I am looking to upgrade to a second hand car with a lot of oomph. Not quite sure how much I will get for my car (not much I would imagine) but I am looking to spend a maximum of 8k, any suggestions?

Spend the £2,500 and a bit more on a 106 GTi, and keep the cash from your Escort for something else.  They are nice little cars, and go really well.

All Leons are 1.8 20 valve Turbo enigines, same as the TT. You would do better for your 8K to look at the Ibiza if a small car will do. 150BHP can be chipped to 210 with no probs. Get one in Ovni Yellow. The Bee's Knees!

If you need something with a bit a space, try an Octavia vRS. *K will get a sensible mileage Y reg or 30-40000 '51' plate. 180BHP acn also be chipped to 210

Get a Smart Car!

Apparantly in Germany a lorry ploughed into the back of one and drove for 3 miles or so down the Autobahn before realising what had happened as he couldn't see the darn thing!

I drink strong black coffee and copious amounts of alcohol.

I'd rather not die of lung cancer so I choose not to smoke and I look forward to when smoking is banned from public places as it is minging

the brain becomes dependent on caffeine to function properly after you've been drinkning coffee for a while, you should really seek some help for your drug addiction.

Don't talk shite. I have gone months without drinking coffee before and I'm hardly addicted to it you fanny
I'm not "talking shite".

Do some research on it or sit in your ignorant bliss, but caffeine can be as destructive as some illegal drugs.

I'm addicted to coffee, I get headaches if I don't drink it. The minimum I drink per day is 3 mugs, and that's if I go out. If I'm in all day it's about 8 mugs

you want one of these 8)
The awesome 2005 model Japanese market WRX STI.

Quote
Minimal changes to the outside & inside hide the fact that Subaru Japan has been hard at work improving the 2005 model Japanese market model.

Redesigning the cooling & intake pipework has been the main contribution to an increase in maximum torque to 414nm from the 2004 model figure of 394nm.

Unfortunately for some strange reason in Japan 280bhp is the maximum quoted figure. So 280bhp are the officially quoted figure from Japan but this is a little hard to believe as that is the same figure as a 97 WRX. Subaru senior power engineer Shu Suzuki admitted that power is up on the 2004 model & possibly nearer the 310bhp figure, Autocar have also tested a 2004 model at a reported 320bhp.

Handling has been improved with the Spec C’s geometry, steering rack & alloy rear lateral links being fitted as standard to the ZL & IL models.

A new yaw rate feedback sensor has been fitted to the Driver’s Control Centre Diff & a new front helical limited-slipp front diff has been fitted in place of the 2004 model Suretrack front diff.

Other changes for 2005 include 235/45 ZR 17 RE 070 tyres, new steering wheel, new heater controls, slightly wider rear bumper, option of BBS wheels & a new Grey colour option.

Enthusiasts choose the Japanese market model because of the improved performance & specification:

- The Japanese model uses totally different Twin Scroll turbocharger & equal length exhaust manifolds to create a more powerful engine.

- Driver’s Control Centre Differential System is fitted as standard, this allows the driver to select the front & rear drive split.

- High Intensity discharge headlights are standard fit.

- Bespoke Bridgestone RE070 tyres.

- Front carbon strut bar, smoked rear glass & rear wiper completes the differences.

all for £29000 on the road.

One day
