Title: FreeSat Post by: axs on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, 21:12:09 Anyone got it? I'm thinking about it and just wondered if anyone had any experiences?
Just got my new TV today and want to make the most of it. Title: Re: FreeSat Post by: Batch on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, 21:18:12 Is you TV HD? If so there isn't that much HD content on there right now - BBC HD, a little bit of ITV is in HD, that's about it.
Or has your new TV got freesat built in? If not then you may want to wait until the Freesat+ PVRs come out before deciding to invest. Other than that, look at the channels you can get and see if you'd watch them. If you already have freeview DTT I don't see much advantage unless you want a bit of HD: Quote 101 BBC One Entertainment 102 BBC Two Entertainment 103 ITV1 Entertainment 104 Channel 4 Entertainment 106 BBC Three Entertainment 107 BBC Four Entertainment 108 BBC HD Entertainment - High Definition 110 BBC ALBA Scotland - Gaelic Language 113 ITV2 Entertainment 114 ITV2 +1 Entertainment 115 ITV3 Entertainment 116 ITV3 +1 Entertainment 117 ITV4 Entertainment 120 S4C (Wales) Entertainment 121 Channel 4 + 1 Entertainment 122 E4 Entertainment 123 E4 +1 Entertainment 124 More4 Entertainment 125 More4 +1 Entertainment 135 Zone Romantica Entertainment 136 Zone Reality Entertainment 137 Zone Thriller Entertainment 138 Zone Horror Entertainment 139 Zone Horror + 1 Entertainment 140 BET ?? 200 BBC News News 201 BBC Parliament News 202 S4C2 (Wales) News 203 Al Jazeera English News 204 Euronews News 205 France 24 News 206 Russia Today News 251 TWC Fight Sport 300 Film4 Movies 301 Film4 +1 Movies 302 True Movies Movies 303 True Movies 2 Movies 304 Movies4Men Movies 306 Movies4Men2 Movies 402 Wedding TV Lifestyle 406 Information TV Lifestyle 411 Overseas Property Lifestyle 450 Men and Motors Lifestyle 451 Audi Channel Motoring 500 Chart Show TV Music 501 The Vault Music 502 Scuzz Music 503 Bubble Hits Music 504 B4U Music Music 509 Zee Music Music 600 CBBC Kids 601 CBeebies Kids 602 CITV Kids 603 POP Kids 604 POPGirl Kids 605 Tiny POP Kids 606 Kix! I think installing it is around £80 and a box is £150ish.
I was sure there was a ITV HD channel as well. might have dreamt it. Title: Re: FreeSat Post by: Batch on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, 21:36:57 Well, ITV HD is more an interactive service (red button) than a full channel - it's not broadcasting 24/7, rather just when they have something HD to how (football). Currently ITV HD is not available to Sky boxes.
I guess only you can decide. If I didn't have an aerial and didn't want subscription TV I might go for it, some HD is better than none! FYI I think I saw freesat PVR would be around £299 on release. Title: Re: FreeSat Post by: axs on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, 21:59:32 I'm gonna keep my eye on it and maybe see what the market for boxes is like in the new year.
Title: Re: FreeSat Post by: Jimmy Glass is an Alien on Sunday, September 5, 2010, 16:02:16 Hi
Apologies for the stupid question, but I'm looking to install a TV in my little lads room. We've got a redundant sky+ box and I have enquired about freesat. Sky have quoted me £25 for a viewing card, which is fine and dandy but I wanted to know if the viewing card can go in the CI slot on the TV or if the box needs to fixed up? This is the TV spec if needed. http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5294842.htm Title: Re: FreeSat Post by: grubby on Sunday, September 5, 2010, 16:18:16 ITV HD has it's own channel now on Freesat. I've had the freesat+ for nearly a year and it's ok. Loads of info here.

She keeps nagging me to record proggies on ITV and BBC but it's a pain in the butt to move my big dish to 28.2e. I've no HD tele yet either and won't get one till the crt breaks
Don't forget if you wish to record while watching another channel you will need to upgrade your LNB to a twin or quad output |
