You might struggle to put one in your laptop, unless it was USB or PCMCIA? Someone at work today told me they had a spare graphics card at home and could they put it in their work laptop. If you can do it, go for it I said....will wait for the fallout. Title: Re: tv card for pc Post by: Simon Pieman on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, 18:04:25 I've got one and it's quite handy. Picture is good if you get a good signal. Not quite the same as having a proper telly but considering you'll be using a laptop I doubt you'll be too worried about that.
Just get a USB one and it'll work. Title: Re: tv card for pc Post by: oxford_fan on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, 18:25:13 ta. this one good then si?

Title: Re: tv card for pc Post by: oxford_fan on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, 21:01:30 Naah just the ability to watch tv is enough for me.
Ooooooh I see, just studied the little picture of it and you have to plug a standard aerial into the little USB thingy? Stupidly I thought it would magic TV on my laptop and act as an aerial itself. Will my cheap argos portable aerial do the job? It got good analogue terestrial signal when I had a normal tele in my room, but I don't think it'll do the job for digital. Title: Re: tv card for pc Post by: Simon Pieman on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, 21:03:07 It comes with a portable aerial. I have no idea if they are any good mind.

I do (freeview), unless you live in a very strong signal area they are shit and you end up needing to use a 'proper' aerial. Title: Re: tv card for pc Post by: oxford_fan on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, 21:48:55 I think I'll give it a miss for now then. It would have been nice but I'm not too bothered, will just continue to rely on the Sky+ downstairs.
Puts a spanner in the works of my plan to watch Red Shoe Diaries on Channel 5 in the evenings though. |
