Title: FA Cup draw tomorrow
Post by: dell boy on Saturday, October 25, 2008, 18:53:46
Who do we want, who do we not want in the draw tomorrow?

For me Oxford or Leeds at home would be great.

I really dont AFC Wimbledon home or away.

Oxford at home.

But as I've mentioned for selfish reasons I'd be well happy with Blyth Spartans away (or Durham/Newcastle Blue Star if they get through)

All the bastard pubs in Wycome (near the ground) were closed last year, so for that reason, I am out. I have also heard that the White Hart is under new ownership, if that influences your decision...

People always talk about bringing the buzz back at the County Ground - a home tie against Oxford would surely achieve this?

Love it to be the Pox seeing as the last time we played was one of the most miserable days of my life. A terrible performance not helped by sitting on the coach behind the stand and hearing that they had drawn Arsenal away in the third round. CUNTS.

About the only time I'll agree with you. The Kassam would be better as you don't want to shit on your own doorstep.
Who knows, we might get another Scummer propose to his girlfriend on the pitch again.

The Histon v Durham replay is Tuesday. I assume it is settled by penalties rather than more replays (booooo).

Whoever we get, getting tickets will be a nightmare I'd imagine.

I dont think our fans will be that up for it. They werent at Barnet last season.

Histon should provide about 1000 tickets, should be plenty. Durham is into the unknown. Any pics of their ground?

I think it'll be a laugh going to either of these, so long as we win...Histon are doing really well at the moment, under Steve Fallon and John Beck, will be a tough game if they win the replay, which you would expect!

Post by: Crozzer on Sunday, October 26, 2008, 14:12:42
John Beck is at Histon.  The princess of darkness, himself.

"Beck's career was ended by injury in 1988, and he was appointed Assistant Manager. Following the dismissal of Chris Turner he was appointed manager of Cambridge United in January 1990. In his first season United won the Fourth Division playoffs, and reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup (an exceptional achievement for a Fourth Division side). The following season (1990-91) they won the Third Division title after an excellent finish to the season saw them climb from 10th to top in less than three months, and they repeated the feat of reaching the FA Cup quarter-finals. During the Summer Beck turned down the opportunity to manage Leicester City, saying he wanted to take the club all the way to the First Division. In 1991-92 they finished 5th in the Second Division, the highest position ever achieved by the club, but lost to Leicester City in the play off semi-finals, ending their hopes of a unique third successive promotion and denying them the chance of becoming Premier League founder members.

Beck's long ball playing style was heavily criticised in the media, and by fans and managers of other clubs, particularly Glenn Hoddle then of Swindon Town. However, he remained popular with United fans. He also oversaw many unorthodox developments at the club, including the tactical repositioning of the away team dugout, ensuring the grass around the corner area was longer so as to slow the ball down when played in that part of the pitch, and the practice of throwing buckets of cold water over players before a match."

Durham City (0) 2 Histon (1) 2
