Maurice Malpas wants his players to concentrate on their own form
Swindon Town manager Maurice Malpas wants his players to stop talking about whether or not they believe in him.

Some of the squad have made public their support since the Robins' fifth straight home defeat at the weekend.

But Malpas has told BBC Wiltshire that he wants the players to be doing their talking not in the local media but on the pitch.

"I don't want the players coming out saying they've got belief in me. I just want the players to play," he said.

"Forget about belief in me. That's just a cop-out for them. It's about belief in themselves.

"I'm sure if I told them to jump off a bridge they would say 'no'.

"I can't tell them what pass to pick. I give them a base to play, and keep them fit.

"I believe I motivate them properly, so I don't need them to come out and say they have confidence in me. I just need them to go out and play."

Swindon, who have slipped to 19th in League One, head for ninth-placed Southend this Saturday.

Whats the actual problem that people have with what he's said?

That he would rather we lose away than at home actually get murdered away, should of just said wish we had last years home record still.

 Don't know YR...it's the mentality of the lynch mob. 

 Having said that, I haven't read any of it too closely, it's clear that MM isn't going anywhere anytime soon, so why get into a lather over it....I'm hoping we get a win at Roots Hall...a second league victory there  in the 40+ years I've been a fan.

surely he can train / manage them to pick the right pass - that's his job.

As for the away thing - I prefer away games at the moment so he fuck right off wishing I have a bad away trip.

He can tell them what to do in training but he cant make them do it on the pitch,thats the point he's making isnt it?
