Title: Should Timlin have played?
Post by: broomfield on Monday, September 29, 2008, 16:47:11
In a number of games I think Easty and Nalis are ok together. However, I think yesterday that as there playing styles are quite alike, we needed someone in the middle more 'terrier' like and I it should have been Timlin.

Comments please!

If anything Timlin and Nalis are similiar players.

If we wanted a terrier in midfield Peacock would be the best bet.

Given that I'm not around most of the time I've never seen a Timlin & Peacock CM partnership, has this ever happened?  Surely worth a go?

Pook should've played.

Not sure if you are on a wind up, but I agree with you in away, Pook next to Nalis would defintely help the middle at present, at least you know Pook will get stuck in.

Changing one player will not improve all our problems. They exist all over the park. Even the front two looked shit against Millwall. Not trying to post my usual moany bullshit, just stating it as a practicality.

I don't think any permutation will work. All of them are crap at going forward - they won't get double figures between them. None of them are hard either. None of them can really command games. I'll temper that slightly by saying that Easton is the pick of the bunch but has gone downhill rapidly. Nalis could be a class act.

The problem is the Scottish presence in the team - Malpas, Peacock, Easton, McGovern..... ;)

Timlin looks well off form to me. Only time Ive seen him look happy was the McDons winner.

He knows things arent working out.

Id say Easton and Nalis have been better this season. Easton will always be in the box in the last 10 minutes as well, almost did it again at Stockport.

Does Pook's brother work as a steward at the CG? I saw the spitting image of him while waiting to get out of the car park by the club shop. So much so, that i actually thought it was our very own "Rock" at first  ???

I would have been inclined to start with the same midfield as the Stockport away game, with Timlin tucked in on the left.  Made us look much more solid unit in the midfield.
