Title: X Factor
Post by: Luci on Saturday, September 27, 2008, 19:23:15
If anyone watches X Factor when it comes to the voting stages this is important!

I didn't post before as a bit premature however my cousin (well 2nd cousin to be pedantic) is through not only to boot camp but tonight through to the next stages.

Her name is Hannah Bradbeer and she sang Duffy Mercy in the original auditions - she was wearing a slightly odd dress and jacket combo but got great comments.

Just really to say if you are a voter (which I know a lot of you aren't and don't even watch the program!) please do remember this post!

Before anyone asks I havent seen her in years to be honest but still, gets 100% support of course!  :)

(I know this is lame but has to be done)

Tonight they only did about 10 secs coverage but in the auditions stages they did quite a big piece.

Ill try and find the clip. (Sorry for using the forum for the shameful plug  :-[)

I might have already seen them as well. ;) She's bound to go far because she's pretty different both vocally and in the way she dresses etc.

When I was younger I remember her Dad sending us a tape of her voice when she was about 12!  Random!

Shes not on Facebook anymore as apparently they dont think its appropriate - I guess cause some of the stages are filmed before they are on air.  Rubbish I can't spy!

Title: Re: X Factor
Post by: sonic youth on Saturday, September 27, 2008, 19:39:36
who doesn't think it's appropriate? i'm confused.

good luck to her. it clashes with strictly, so i'm afraid i'm unlikely to watch and/or vote.

Title: Re: X Factor
Post by: Luci on Saturday, September 27, 2008, 19:40:58
I think they were told not to comment etc and use social networking - not sure why, like I said haven't seen her in years but thats the reason she vanished from our Facebooks.

I've Virgin plussed strictly to watch later!

This reminds that Lee Mead who won something to sing something is my Uncles 2nd cousins son.

Which he didnt know untill he won whatever it is he won, now hes always talking about 'our lee'

Its quite funny really, actually my uncle is rather funny - hes that type of uncle thats old enough to be blatantly racist but someone get away with.....and he is also a dead ringer of Norris from Corrie!

I think they pulled peoples face book's etc because the final 12 got revealed on that ex gang member's website.

X FACTOR fave Rachel Hylton is at the centre of a dirty tricks campaign – after claims that she leaked the names of the show’s finalists.

TV bosses were horrified to see a website – claiming to belong to the reformed crack addict – naming all 12 acts picked for this year’s finals.

shes through to the judges house now isnt she Luci?

If shes the one Im thinking of - she wears odd clothes and make up? but with a makeover she would look fab!

Title: Re: X Factor

Definitely through to the 'house' bit. I also think she is through to the live shows, assuming the 'leak' list I saw was accurate.

I'm sure Luci would confirm, but evil Cowell is having her watched by a team of plumbers with tranquilliser darts.

Bad choice of top, the diagonal lines make her shoulders look too high, which in turns make her tits look like they're too far down.

I don't think that top works for her at all, it might be the angle though. Looks a bit leotardish.

The red top on the bird next to her is horrendous, she should just be kicked off the show for that. What's with the black braces things? Is she trying to look like a colourful droog?

Nope. I'm a natural fashion genius. Can bring up dilemmas though. For example, a man of my girth probably shouldn't where horizontal stripes. But I like looking like Dennis the Menace.

Arriba , the blond girl whos mum / dad / pet ferret died when she was 2 hours old completley forgot her lyrics FFS!

The girls group was by far the stongest though

Agree about the bloke with the dead wife. he's crap.

Think the black lads boy band who's name i forget are my favorites to win. not my scene at all but they really work as a group.

Title: Re: X Factor

I dont think she does sing like that Janage.  Tweedy said it herslf that she was a lot more "quirky" than most people who end up on X factor.    And to be fair she wont be the 1st singer to not sing in her speaking accent, loads of people dont.

She wont win it for that reason -shes not the standard x factor power ballard warbler

Bear in mind they actually have to sing 2 songs not just the 1 that you see on ITV1, I suspect though the judges must have a fair idea who they want before they go to the 'judges houses' (which aren't their actual houses) .

I suspect that Austin, JLT and Bad Lashes will go quite fair, but usually it is the females that vote on these type of programs and they usually vote for the male's rarelly the pretty females unless they are exceptional (i.e Leona)

she has 5 kids but only custody of 2 - the other 3 are in care - how must they feel when they see her on TV going on about what a great mother she is?? she is too much like Amy Winehouse anyway - pronnounces her words exactly the same.

Anyone see last night's results show?  I couldn't believe Ricky Gervais bloke played the "this song is dedicated to my dead wife" card straight away.  It was 100% crinchworthy tv, that young lad who obviously lost the vote should be angry about that.  The fat old bloke used emotional black mail to stay in a tv show, don't think he should be proud of his actions at all.

Exclusive: X Factor reject Scott Bruton wants lawyers to get him out of show contract

By Mark Jefferies 28/10/2008

Scott Bruton (Pic:ITV)
X Factor reject Scott Bruton has instructed a solicitor to get him out of his contract.

The former Pontin’s Bluecoat, 19, was kicked off the ITV series on Saturday.

Despite this, Scott is convinced that if he can be free from the show’s commitments, he can become a chart-topping star.

All of the finalists sign deals tying them in to a tour and stopping them releasing material before the winner.

Scott told friends: “I’m stuck in my contract with X Factor until February. I’m getting a solicitor to look and see if they can get me out of it. I know I still have what it takes to become a star and I don’t see why I should have to wait.”

But the contract he wants to tear up includes going on a UK tour, where the finalists perform live in front of thousands and earn big money.

A show source said: “Being on the tour is his best chance of making a name for himself.

The Laura girl should never have gone, she was possibly the best in the competition.

But how does Daniel & Rachel keep getting thorugh each week ?

Daniel is clearly not going to win ansd there is much better than him and Rachel...well her attitude stinks and she will never make it with an attitude like that, I dunno about her 'sacking' Danni, Danni should sack her.

Diana or Alexandra to win.

Post by: oxford_fan on Monday, November 10, 2008, 14:49:11
Daniel must be getting the old people vote, plus he has a big sob story with his wife dying just after childbirth. its absolute bollocks that people bring stuff like that into it, really quite shameful and nothing to do with the contest.

Rachel hasn't been that good overall and isnt a great talent, but she was really good on the last show. she looked alot better too. don't know what had gone on the past week though, as she seemed really different and quiet.

Makes me laugh how they are all like "oh I got voted off/in the bottom 2 cause of bad press etc"

naah normally its not the worst 2 who end up in the bottom 2, the public nearly always get it wrong.

austin was one of the better contestants and went. laura was probably the best and went.

And that little tramp Diana with the most annoying voice ever gets a bye. I really wish she'd sing normally. And i've only seen 2 episodes this series! That's how much her stupid mouth gets on my male mammories.

i quite like Diana. Annoying yes but she's got a really good voice compared to Rachel, Owen and Daniel.
As for Laura going out i thought that was the best decision on Saturday. didn't like her at all with her banchee voice.

Alexandra or JSL will win it though

If this happens then its a ming fix and Im never watching it again
Oh an apprently Diana might not be singing again this week even though a video has appeared of her on Bonfire night shreaking and shouting

Could X Factor reject Laura White be about to make a surprise return to the reality show?

Speculation of a comeback has intensified after the singer told a group of fans that they hadn't seen the last of her on X Factor.

Laura said: "Don't worry - I'm going back on the show" when cornered by some admirers in London earlier this week, reports The Sun.

The singer, who was one of the favourites to win this year's X Factor, was voted off Saturday night's show following a sing-off with Ruth Lorenzo.

Judge Louis Walsh had the deciding vote and his decision to get rid of Laura was blasted as tactical by her mentor Cheryl Cole.

More than 35,000 people have now signed a petition to have Laura reinstated in the competition - will X Factor bosses bend the rules and bring her back?

Got to be nearly 3 months worth in all. You have you few weeks of auditions where the 'talented', window lickers and sob stories do their bit. Then it's off to the respective judges houses so they get down to the final 12. Then know one of those out every week until 3 remain. Then release the winners song just in time for xmas.

It goes on nearly as long as Big Brother.

alexandra is the pick of the bunch but still relies on recorded backing singers to cover her average voice.
i hate the fact that it isn't just about the individuals, as they get drowned out by the backing vocals(which are usually better)

That's what's annoyed me most this year about x-factor.  Last year Leon wins, and yet we've had Rhydian on there, Same Difference on there (both getting standing ovations).  Seems like all you have to do thesedays is get on the live show do well and hey presto an album deal is yours.  So what is the point in this programme now?

Out of Diana, Alexandra, JLS and Eoghan 3 of them will get record deals, plus maybe that Laura bird, and the spaniard's been lined up for a latino album.  Just a load of money spinning shiiite.

But if they have got the talent then why not, just because they don't win shouldn't mean they should just disapear, I'm sure that if Simon Cowell's record label (Sony BMG or Syco) don't sign them then other labels will, possibly 3 or 4 of them will go on to have decent careers, this years X Factor has probably been the most open since it started as there isn't a clear favorite to win, I think because there is genuine talent there that people will buy their music.

I'm sure Rydian & Leon will disapear by next year as they aren't that popular by the seems of it, but Same Difference will still be around but will probably only do the likes of the holiday camp's as they entertain the younger generation, but may release a single now and again.

Of previous finalists I beleive only Leona Lewis & Shayne Ward is still going, and Will Young (but that was a different show same format) so I think the point is if they aren't that popular then the public don't buy their music so they will dissapear.

I heard this morning on Absolute Radio that there's some campaign going on to try and get people around th ecountry to buy as many copies of the original Hallelujah song as possible next week, to stop the X-factor winner from making it to number 1.  Hope it works as it is a legendary song that doesn't need the x-factor treatment.  My dear God Eoghan singing it and getting to number 1 would be a travesty.

I'm gonna write a Christmas song for next year to try and stop the x-factor.  May need some musical help with this project however.

surely that would only suit Diana? JLS or Alex or even eggnog singing that would be WRONG

The Leonard Cohen one? I heard it was Jeff Buckley's version? Possibly both.

You can't go one on one with a music Reality TV show - too many people get sucked in by it.

Sorry, it was the Buckley version, not the original.

And yeah it is gonna be the winners song, the art work for the cd's are ready to go (pretty much), my mrs has to make the call to her work to give the go ahead for the printing to start.  They only had Diana's art work ready last week, that's now in the bin!

There's a Rick Roll Xmas campaign going on at the moment. All it will take is 250,000 people to spend 70p on iTunes to buy Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up to knock the X Factor winner off the No.1 spot.

Alexandra deserved to win, I'm sure she will go far.

I'd suggest to watch out for an X Factor music overload next year, I suspect that JLS, Laura (already got deals on the table), Diana (Was wanted by Gary Barlow who wants to go into music management - Cowell told him no chance) & Ruth will all get recording contracts

Saw this charade on Saturday as man flu kept me incapacitated.  Just, ahem, to be clear it was due to man flu I saw it no other reason than that.   I have to say though that Alexandra one probably deserved it but giving her Bouncy Buttocks while Master Potato Head and four random poofs and a midget had to make do with Ireland’s answer to Take that circa 1992 and 2002 made a one horse race even more of a donkey derby.

Yeah i agree with that, they remind me of the old mo town groups, they seem decent guy's fair play to them.

you're joking right? motown!?

JLS were fucking shit! boybands have to be good looking at least (midget, boggle eyes, geek and fatty don't cut it), and to compare them to motown when all they've done is sung cheesy cliche covers badly is jumping the gun to say the least. none of them were patricularly good singers and they didn't show a single bit of anything resembling originality.

they arnt a pop boy band tho are they, r'n'b has lots of solo artists like chris brown ne-yo taio cruz etc but no groups

thankfully they aren't even a band. but if they were a band they would most certainly be a pop group. r'n'b is pop music.

Is this the difference between a group and a band?
