I think that point was passed when it was revealed their top rescue hope is a Nigerian Consortium:

"Most Honoured Mr Ashley

We have recently come into possession of some government funds which we need to get out of the country but cannot due to civil disorder and a conspiracy against my father by secret forces. Therefore we are constantly searching for an honourable partner with which to deposit such funds and after extensive searches we believe, God willing, that your football club would be most beneficiary to our mutual wealth. Please send us the details of your football club's bank account and we will deposit said funds immediately. On completion of transaction as recognition of goodwill, you keep 10% of said funds. We look forward to your most honoured reply and all success to everyone in this legitimate business transaction

Yours

The 419 Consortium"

He ,looks like a fat lesbian but he did a bloody good job at Wimbledon. He's a better option than Dalglish or O'Leary. The position they are in though is laughable. Another one to add to the Cockney Mafia they so desperately want out.

I was walking around the abyss that is generally known as Blyth when I overheard an old timer mentioned it to his lady. I think it was rubbish.

To be honest, Hughton didn't want the job, Ashley had to bring in someone to oversee the remainder of his tenure and there was no way he'd get a popular appointment... and there was no way he could bring Wise in for it.

I went to the Spurs game last Wednesday... they're in big trouble.

Actually he reminds me of Radovan Karodicz in his Bosnian-slaughtering heyday. Not sure which is the less flattering comparison tbh

I think it's to Kinnear's credit, that when DoF at Scumsville..he publicly called O*frod fans a bunch of muppets, before having the prescience to jack the job in.

Which is around the time he's expecting to be replaced by the "new owners". If it weren't for the fact that Ashley's not got a snowball in hell's chance of finding someone to pay what he wants in 6 weeks, this would mean Kinnear's was getting paid between £250k to £600k (5 live on Friday were touting 100k a week) to go and watch Newcastle. If that's a general going rate, it should at least stop the gates falling.

Newcastle arent exactly a million miles away from where they were.

4 points in the last two have helped which is mainly down to that ex England striker Mr. Owen.

Joe Kinnear has got the players putting in the effort which is all you can ask really - fair play to him he deserves his chance until the end of the season.

Although I am not an England supporter, how on earth that pile of shite Defoe gets in the team ahead of Michael Owen is a joke. Defoe needs about 7 good chances to score a goal, an over-rated load of rubbish

Agreed Dachauer-Id go as far as to say that Owen is the best performer at international level thart England have had for the past 15 years at least

Title: Re: Joe Kinnear
Post by: Batch on Monday, December 15, 2008, 10:44:19
Owen has been injured and is only just getting a run of games. I'd expect him to get selected now he is fit.

Defoe - Ericsson realised he wasn't good enough ans so  was left at home and 12 year old Theo Walcott was taken to the WC instead.

you can't fault cappello's selection policy. he only picks players who are match fit and michael owen hasn't been match fit for about four years. true, he can score goals in any condition but that's not enough at international level.

when fit, he will start for england as his movement and finishing are second to none. what a dink past james the other night and i liked the replay where you could see him mouth "what a fucking finish eh".

defoe hasn't been getting in ahead of owen, its pretty obvious that in a fair contest between the two owen wins pretty easily. he just needs to get himself fully fit and available for selection.

p.s. defoe isn't incredible but can be pretty handy in the right situation and mood.

I reckon thats the end for Joe...

Seems he is a manager from yesteryear...

Nowadays the players have too much say and too much to say.

Hard line managers who dont take any shit from their players just dont last.....Macari wouldnt cut it now.

Copied and pasted this from the BBC gossip bit:

Former Nottingham Forest manager Colin Calderwood is set to take charge of Newcastle in place of Joe Kinnear, who needs heart surgery. (Daily Mirror)

Or Newcastle are ready to move for ex-Middlesbrough manager Bryan Robson as a short-term replacement for Kinnear. (Daily Express)

Or Newcastle may turn to former England manager Terry Venables as an interim replacement for Kinnear. (Daily Mail)

Lets put it like this - Glad I'm not a Newcastle fan.
