Title: nfl thread Post by: sonic youth on Sunday, September 14, 2008, 21:01:05 surprised there isn't one. after watching the superbowl at fred's earlier in the year, i decided i'd adopt a team this year so i've gone for tennessee on the basis that i've been there...
anyway, watched bits of the green bay v detroit lions game and had to laugh when the detroit quarterback passed straight to an opposition player who then promptly scored a touchdown. that's gotta hurt... Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: Rich Pullen on Sunday, September 14, 2008, 21:08:57 Yeah I watched that earlier Sonic... I do like American Football but the time zones kill off any real following urges I have... I'm even tempted to join the Newcastle Uni team!
On the basis that I've been to their stadium, I follow the scores of the New England Patriots but it's a bit of a cop out as they've been pretty good! Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Sunday, September 14, 2008, 21:16:55 surprised there isn't one. after watching the superbowl at fred's earlier in the year, i decided i'd adopt a team this year so i've gone for tennessee on the basis that i've been there... I think he threw 3 interceptions in 2 and a half minutes - two of which went for touch downs. Pretty impressive stuff.anyway, watched bits of the green bay v detroit lions game and had to laugh when the detroit quarterback passed straight to an opposition player who then promptly scored a touchdown. that's gotta hurt... So where you been in Tennessee?? Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: sonic youth on Sunday, September 14, 2008, 21:19:48 indeed, i couldn't help but think "i hope smithy's watching"...
in case someone somehow missed me banging on about visiting the states: i stayed in a log cabin in the smoky mountains, about 20 miles from pigeon forge. Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: leefer on Sunday, September 14, 2008, 21:22:55 NFL on tele means winter is coming....go cheeseheads!
Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: Leggett on Sunday, September 14, 2008, 22:11:10 the new york jets are being promptly bummed by the pats... bang goes the unbeaten season for NYJ ;)
Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: stfc11 on Sunday, September 14, 2008, 23:26:34 Chargers are my team, unlucky today, 30-31 the final score i think. Although im more into baseball, went to watch the Padres at Petco Park a couple of months ago, so checking their score now, 6-6 against the San Francisco Giants, 10th inning needed, exciting stuff!
Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: Arriba on Sunday, September 14, 2008, 23:36:25 my nan bought me an atlanta falcons shit about 20 years ago.i worse it for a while.are they any good?

Currently watching Pittsburgh beating Cleveland 10-0. Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: Nomoreheroes on Monday, September 15, 2008, 05:39:49 Noone watch the Broncos toy with the Chargers and go for an extra 2 points with 24 secs remaining to win 39-38 ?

Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: Samdy Gray on Monday, September 15, 2008, 08:25:20 I watch a bit of NFL now and again. A mate at secondary school got me into it and he was an Philidelphia Eagles fan so I look out for them.

Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: donkey on Monday, September 15, 2008, 16:45:55 the new york jets are being promptly bummed by the pats... bang goes the unbeaten season for NYJ ;) Why can't the Patriots just fuck off. They really fucking annoy me. FUCK OFF FUCK OFF FUCK OFF Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: axs on Monday, September 15, 2008, 16:53:28 are they MKdonny team of NFL? or was that the raiders?
Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: donkey on Monday, September 15, 2008, 17:10:08 are they MKdonny team of NFL? or was that the raiders? Well, they are to me, but to be fair, they are a proper team. I guess you say Baltimore Ravens who were the Cleveland Browns. The Radiers, Colts, Cardinals, Rams have all moved since I started watching the nfl, the Browns and Oilers have disappeared (only for the Browns to re-appear). Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: sonic youth on Monday, September 15, 2008, 17:40:56 are they MKdonny team of NFL? or was that the raiders? isn't that all of them? :)the razorbacks have had two narrow wins so far this season. it's insane to think that they had 70,000 at their first game of the season... Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: No Longer Posh Red on Monday, September 15, 2008, 17:56:02 I watch a bit of NFL now and again. A mate at secondary school got me into it and he was an Philidelphia Eagles fan so I look out for them. GO Eagles No, not the Philthy Eagles. Here's hoping that they get one helluva beating tonight (well tomorrow morning). It's going to be a late night, Kick-off's not until 01:30 Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: No Longer Posh Red on Monday, September 15, 2008, 17:57:35 Still hoping this is the year for the Cowboys! Last year in the old stadium too Indeed it is. We went to Texas Stadium last year to watch the Cowboys play the Vikings, and we are already making plans to go back in a couple of years time to see a game in the new stadium. Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: Rich Pullen on Monday, September 15, 2008, 18:02:29 Why can't the Patriots just fuck off. They really fucking annoy me. FUCK OFF FUCK OFF FUCK OFF I once found myself in a tiny blues club with a group of Patriots - that was a weird night. Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: Leggett on Monday, September 15, 2008, 20:02:58 I'm in NY when the Cardinals are facing the Jets at giants stadium, i'm so tempted to go! can get a ticket for about $100, but i'd be going on my own. proper billy no mates :P
Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: pumbaa on Monday, September 15, 2008, 20:19:43 Do it. I was quoted $350 minimum to see the Bungles and couldn't really justify that.....
I did watch a couple of High School football games though, local stuff like. Somewhat disturbing when a bunch of 13 year old cheerleaders start chanting "Beavers are best"....... Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: Rich Pullen on Monday, September 15, 2008, 20:22:41 Do it. I was quoted $350 minimum to see the Bungles and couldn't really justify that..... Somewhat disturbing when a bunch of 13 year old cheerleaders start chanting "Beavers are best"....... :D I've always wanted to go to a big college fixture like Michigan Wolverines in their 100,000+ stadium. That would be great. Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: Leggett on Monday, September 15, 2008, 21:53:09 South Central Louisiana State University Mud Dogs FTW.

It's going to be a late night, Kick-off's not until 01:30 What a top game 41-37 Cowboys Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: nevillew on Wednesday, September 17, 2008, 07:18:28 Cowboys for me. - although I don't follow it like I used to (Swindon Steelers anyone ?). Didn't know they were moving to a new stadium for example
I had the privilege of seeing Emmet Smith & co wipe the floor with Green Bay on Thanksgiving Day back in 1994 (I think) Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: sonic youth on Monday, September 22, 2008, 08:56:14 another good win for the titans  looks as if i picked a good team.
razorbacks got dicked by crimson tide though... Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: janaage on Monday, September 22, 2008, 09:12:27 Legget did you go to the Jets? $100's not bad is it.
I've always followed the Jets, would love to go watch them one day. Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: fatbury on Monday, September 22, 2008, 14:30:23 Cowboys 3 and 0 .. lets hope we can do it this time .. its been WAY TOO LONG!
Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: Rich Pullen on Monday, September 22, 2008, 15:45:49 Cowboys 3 and 0 .. lets hope we can do it this time .. its been WAY TOO LONG! I'd want the Cowboys to win because Hank Hill would be happy :D Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: donkey on Monday, September 22, 2008, 17:47:20 Legget did you go to the Jets? $100's not bad is it. I've always followed the Jets, would love to go watch them one day. Me too. I'm hoping next seasons fixtures give the Jets a home game at the start of half term in October...then I'm there. $100 for a ticket is not too bad, especially when you consider the Jets are the second best supported team (to Washington, I think), and have a twenty year waiting list for season tickets...dead man's boots, the only way in. I will Sky+ the game tonight, and not stay up...will watch it tomorrow (expecting a defeat, but after Miami beat New England anything's possible). Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: pumbaa on Tuesday, September 23, 2008, 12:23:17 Bungles 0-3. Normal service resumed then.....
Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: janaage on Tuesday, September 23, 2008, 12:27:57 And the Jets lost too. Why are they constantly so shit?!? FFS one decent year (passed the play offs) would be nice!! Pisses me off.

Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: janaage on Monday, September 29, 2008, 08:47:50 New York Jets, under achievers of the highest order. Although the Jets won yesterday - hurrah!
Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: pumbaa on Monday, September 29, 2008, 10:48:46 Right im going to pick an NFL team as ive given up with the Soccer (yep I said Soccer!) Who's the most rubbish one? I present the case for the Cincinnati Bengals. Definitely the NFL equivalant of Swindon Town. Famously inconsistent. 0-4 this season I think. All their cheerleaders are the daughters of Kentucky rednecks. Useless defence. Nice kit. Have some discipline problems. You'll feel right at home as a Bungles fan...... Title: Re: nfl thread Post by: donkey on Monday, September 29, 2008, 21:38:05 New York Jets, under achievers of the highest order. Although the Jets won yesterday - hurrah! Scoring 56 points...bloody hell...maybe Farve has finally learnt the playbook... |
