Title: Super Work Avoidance Tactics 2: Cold Coffee and Cigarettes adventure. Post by: flammableBen on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 13:52:22 It's like a game isn't it? Not that I've got much experience in formal work where you really get a chance at much work avoidance, but I'm sure the basics are the same.
Supposed to be doing some updatering changeroos to my dads website, but concentration levels are at an all time low. The TEF doesn't help, but it's not the only distraction I seem to be good at piling onto myself. The annoying thing is, that whilst I don't have the motivation to seriously crack on with what should be a fairly simple task, I do have the motivation to take the enjoyment out of the little distractions my mind keeps coming up with. My cup of Coffee for example. I made a pot about an hour and a half ago, and enjoyed three lovely cups of hot delicious coffee. Cracked on with a bit of jobage before deciding that I needed another cup, so I make the long journey downstairs to the kitchen. Joy! There's still enough coffee in the pot for another cup. Disaster! It's gone a bit cold. Now this is where my self motivation kicks in, "No Ben!" I say to myself, "You need to get on. Don't waste time to making a fresh pot, just have it cold." So now I'm back facing actually doing something but with a cold cup of coffee. The little voice pops up ,"Have a cigarette, coffee always makes you want to smoke." And before my mind tells me that I really don't fancy a cigarette I've lit up and smoking something I'm not really enjoying. So Cigarette and cold coffee finished, I'm somewhat running out of distractions. "Let's crack on!" the hardworking and rather small motivate part of me yells, but it quickly gets shot down by the idea of laying out the whole tedious set of events, as if they were some sort of fantastical adventure, on to the TEF, for everybody else to enjoy. Bastards. Title: Re: Super Work Avoidance Tactics 2: Cold Coffee and Cigarettes adventure. It was going so well... Title: Re: Super Work Avoidance Tactics 2: Cold Coffee and Cigarettes adventure. Post by: flammableBen on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 14:02:12 Im sure i read that you hadnt smoked since the weekend? It was going so well... To be honest I quite often go 3-4 days without having a cigarette. Especially as I generally have zero money. Wasn't really trying to quit. Oh and my shoulder hurts. Not sure if I can blame the TEF for that but I can try you cunts. I think it's probably stress. Title: Re: Super Work Avoidance Tactics 2: Cold Coffee and Cigarettes adventure. Post by: Samdy Gray on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 14:18:07 The TEF is indeed a great work avoidance tactic. I've meant to start writing some procedures this afternoon but I've got absolutely nowhere with it.
And when the TEF goes a bit quiet I'll go to the coffee machine and get a coffee as another avoidance tactic. Then there's also the 'I really can't be fucked so I'll just go to the loo, try and have a shit and waste some more time' tactic. Title: Re: Super Work Avoidance Tactics 2: Cold Coffee and Cigarettes adventure. Post by: flammableBen on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 14:24:29 I just had another cigarette that I didn't really want and then picked up my guitar and rocked out (in an acoustic sort of fashion). I'm a bit out of practice though and got hand cramps from too many barre chords in Dry the Rain (The Beta Band), so I learnt the intro/verse riff from Love Machine by Girls Aloud instead. Rock and Roll.
Also I need new strings. Actually I need a new guitar, but Strings would do for now. I need to pop over to my dads to get the wine price changes in a bit anyway and there's less distractions there. Apart from free beer. Title: Re: Super Work Avoidance Tactics 2: Cold Coffee and Cigarettes adventure. Post by: Colin Todd on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 14:28:31 Get a job.
You could get paid for avoiding work then, as Samdy Gray has outlined. Title: Re: Super Work Avoidance Tactics 2: Cold Coffee and Cigarettes adventure. Post by: Samdy Gray on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 14:32:35 The trick is to still look productive whilst avoiding as much work as possible.

Can someone make the TEF look like a word or excel file please? Title: Re: Super Work Avoidance Tactics 2: Cold Coffee and Cigarettes adventure. I recently was voted best skiver at the leisure centre! I wasnt sure whether to be pleased or upset about it to be honest flattering my eyelashes and asking if I can have an extra break to eat a fab seems to work for me! not here though - the gays have none of it Title: Re: Super Work Avoidance Tactics 2: Cold Coffee and Cigarettes adventure. Post by: BANGKOK RED on Thursday, September 11, 2008, 15:03:44 My boss is a very friendly and chatty bloke, but a USELESS man manager.
And so my work avoidance tactic is to engage in conversation, along the lines of "How is the apartment hunting going then Lee?". After which I just sit back and let him talk about his ventures in the realm of finding apartments, which usually kills an hour or so. I had a falling out with him this week (He did a big big bad). That was an unintended work avoidance procedure that killed about 2 hours for the whole office as we all ganged up on him. Other than that it is the normal things such as, going for a ciggy, bathroom, downstairs to buy coffee and of course the TEF (Along with other forums) Title: Re: Super Work Avoidance Tactics 2: Cold Coffee and Cigarettes adventure. Think I might put the old one back on for now and get a new string on Saturday morning I've given up on my 12 string acoustic. Break a bloody string everytime I restring it. Been an 11 or 10 string for about 4 years now. Not quite the same. Title: Re: Super Work Avoidance Tactics 2: Cold Coffee and Cigarettes adventure. Post by: Samdy Gray on Friday, September 12, 2008, 09:51:53 I've never broken a guitar string in my 3 or so years of playing.
