It's going to hit Western Cuba, apparently.  Where abouts did they go Fred?  It's an awfully big place, they might be lucky.

Word of advice kids, caribbean hurricane season runs from July to November......

I feel terribly sorry for them, but hopefully they'll be OK - it'll be an 'experience' if nothing else.

Obviously, as long as I was safe I'd find such events quite exciting... Hope they're okay though.

Right on, we had originally booked for early October for Jamaica, didn't even think about the hurricane season.  Luckily, our travel agent pointed it out to us before it was too late, we now go late November.  Hopefully it will be ok by then.

I was in Jamaica in August when a hurricane hit the island. Well, when I say hit, we were on the north side of the island and the epicentre was around 100 miles south of Kingston. Even so, it was still a surreal experience and lasted for about 36 hours, but no significant damage.

I suspect that most of the hotels will keep their residents safe as they normally have contingency plans to deal with such events. Its not what you want on your honeymoon, but I suppose it makes it memorable.

I used to do some work with the USAF Hurricane Hunters, a complete bunch of nutters that fly C-130's into hurricanes.......

As posted in the other thread, missed us by a couple of hundred miles. We were in the south east and it and really hit the north west.

Watching all the storm hunters on CNN was fun though, those crazy yanks.
