This week I have been mostly listening to Oh, Inverted World by The Shins.

I hate most of the stuff we play at work at the moment.

I've only bought one cd in the last few months and it was the remastered 'Goddamnit' by Alkaline Trio. I already owned the original but the remastered version comes with a dvd which I've only half watched.

Sorry, that probably wasn't the boredom killing post you were looking for!

Haven't bought any new music for a couple of weeks, but the last one was a Trojan Ska box set.

Currently listening to Cooper Temple Clause, Fratellis, Raveonettes and Miles Davis.

I loath Sandy Thom, for no particular reason.

Yay! I like these threads, gives me and Bennett a chance to list a few thousand bands for one another to check out.....Ace

My most recent purchase was an EP by a band called Closure In Moscow - If you're into your 'easy listening' type rock, then check em out!

I can't stop listening to Spread Legs Not Lies, by The Blackout

And i loathe Chris Brown....Well RnB in general... :suicide:

I spent my time between puking and shitting last week lying in bed watching streamed episodes of "The Wire", the Tom Waits theme music now runs around my brain constantly. It's driving me mental.

I see you still haven't got over your Ryan Adams / Whiskeytown / Americana in general obsession. Some nice stuff there. Am I wasting my time recommending you go back and listen to a few of The Band's albums? You've been there already right? If not then "The Band" is a good place to start, or "Music from Big Pink" or "The Basement Tapes".

I fucking love The Band. I recommend the book This Wheel's on Fire: Levon Helm and the Story of the Band. There's some very good literature on The Band.

I'll look it up. Since my post I've managed to drive Tom Waits out of my head but he's been replaced by "The night they drove Old Dixie down" on a permanenent loop. I hate it when songs get stuck in your head and you're not somewhere where you can play music.

I think to dimiss as "reactionary" anything that references the South in anything but pejorative terms is in itself a bit reactionary.

You're going to miss a lot a decent music and literature that way.

This is a song written by a Canadian, played by a bunch of other Canadians (except Levon who was from Arkansas. It's been covered by Johnny Cash, Jerry Garcia, and Joan Baez for christ sake, hardly the most right wing list of artists.

I didn't mind them but by George that new effort is a shocker.  It's not often I'm offended by music but that really is drivel of the worst kind.

Currently enjoying a bit of Martha Reeves and The Enemy.  I'm shit at discovering new music I must admit.

Bit of useless trivia for the day...

"By George" is a linguistic corruption of "by Jove". "By Jove" entered into the English language in or around the 1500s as a way of invoking god without actually using the word "God", which was considered blasphemous.

I got the new Verve album yesterday not too shabby really. Quite enjoyed what i have heard of it. Not too keen on the new Bloc Party song tbh. It's a bit weird. I'll be picking up the Kings Of Leon and Glasvegas albums next month i'd have thought.

On other stuff i'm still really enjoying The Young Knives.

I'm way behind, just started on season 2 to find Mcnulty on a boat and the theme tune has changed to another version of Way Down in the Hole, but still by Tom Waits. Is there another version for season 3?
