Town boss Maurice Malpas is keen to step up Corr's bid to recover from the dislocated shoulder injury that has kept him out for just short of six months and has offered the Cherries the chance to take the striker on loan for a month.
The Town boss has Simon Cox and Billy Paynter as his recognised front two and believes that Corr is still too short of match fitness to warrant a place in the starting line-up.
But he is hoping that the Irishman will prove his fitness with a short spell at the Fitness First Stadium and return to the County Ground ready to put pressure on the first-choice frontmen.
Bournemouth boss Kevin Bond is frantically searching for a striker after agreeing to let Jo Kuffour make a switch to Bristol Rovers – but is also interested in Brentford fromntman Alan Connell.

Bond is set to make a decision later today, but could pull out of the move if a deal can be agreed for Connell.
Malpas said: "We have spoken to Bournemouth about the possibility of taking Barry on loan for a month.
"He is very much part of our plans but needs games to get himself back up to speed in terms of match fitness.
"He won't get enough playing time here at the moment and the reserve games are so infrequent that it becomes a problem.
"The best thing for him to do would be to go away to Bournemouth for a month play four or five games and then come back here ready to fight for a first-team place.
"I talked it over with Kevin over the weekend and we would expect a decision in the next day or so."
Meanwhile, the manager has still to receive any official approaches for the other fringe members of his squad that he is looking to move on.
Some of those will play tomorrow in a specially arranged game away to Charlton.
"There has still been no firm interest in any of the others," Malpas confirmed.
"They will play in the bounce game against Charlton and perhaps there may be something after that."
Malpas has also ruled out a move for Nigerian midfielder Adigun Salami.
Midfielder Salami, 20, who plays for Danish club FC Midjylland, was linked with a move to the County Ground over the weekend.

I said the other night that in theory this is a good deal for Corr. It's a deal to improve his fitness so why not?

Malpas was quick to dismiss the Salami deal.

Hopefully he'll go 1 month without some kind of injury, score a shed load of goals and they bid loads for him, which we accept.Then he can become injured for them for the next 14 years rather than us.

To be fair, i want Barry to do well and remain with us, but to be honest, he's such a huge waste of wages (as things stand), without him being injury free for the rest of the season, i can't see him staying.

This worries me a bit.
If he is not match fit then he shouldn't be going to Bournemouth to get injured, which he will if he is not match fit.

They have given Barry a long time to recover why now throw him into the most physical division of all to finish him off for good.

I think we need to risk it dell - Malpas has given the reasons and I certainly agree.

makes sense in some ways .. but Id prefer to see him making some appearances for us from the bench

If he came of the bench for us looking unfit everybody would be slagging Malpas off for playing him - I think he's doing the right thing trying to get him out on loan

I think Malpas is spot on to try and get Corr some regular football - also someone else can pay him for the month.

The lack of a proper, regular reserve league is a problem for managers. It must be very difficult to get/keep fringe players and players coming back from injury match fit.

I think it is a good idea, loan him out for a month for regular first team football, he will not only gain match fitness but if he scores a few while he is there then it will boost his confidence no end, and if our front players are scoring goals then I'm sure there would be an option of Bournemouth keeping him for another month to keep building up his fitness.

Good deal all round I'd suggest.

maybe we're trying to cut our losses. corr's a good player but injury prone, maybe muff will take him off our hands and we can bring a badly needed defender in...

Anderton's there too isn't he.  Class.  Corr and Anderton playing at the fitness first stadium.

The 'injury prone' Anderton tag has always confused me. There was certainly a time during the mid-90's (2 or 3 seasons) where he seemed to be crocked on a regular basis. Fair enough.

However, as a crock he is a failure because he's still playing in his mid-30's and has played over 400 league games throughout his career. I blame the tabloids.

I very much doubt Corr will make 400+ career appearances. He's 23 and struggled to pass 50 games.

However, I reckon the first thing that the average football fan associates with Anderton is his injury prone-ness. He'd probably want people to remember him for his first season as a pro at Pompey with the cup run or his goal against Colombia during WC'98... But, alas, I doubt that's the case!

i hope this pays off.if he doesn't get fit then, i think he is fucked long term really.
hopefully he will get plenty of time on the pitch down there,score a few goals,then comes back here fighting fit and challenges for a place in the team.
would be unfair to drop paynter at the moment and cox is an auto starter anyway.

Barry will come back to resurrect our season I rekon.

Id rather he stayed, because we keep seeing Peacock getting 15 minutes at the end of games and we'd be better off with Corr getting that time.

They've just signed Craig Linfield on loan from Liverpool.  Maybe they'll leave Bazza alone now.  More likely they're trying to get 2 in.

He signed a few days ago so I don't think that'll effect the Corr deal.

It's a good idea. He might get injured again if he goes though as L2 is quite a physical league. But what more can we do to improve his fitness? If he doesn't go i'd still just make sure he plays a full 90 in the next few reserve games and then start putting him on the bench.

BARRY Corr will not be going out on loan to Bournemouth after Town boss Maurice Malpas decided to keep the front man at the County Ground.

The Irishman is currently on his way back to full fitness following a bad shoulder injury, but following some impressive showings for the reserves he has forced his way back into Malpas's thoughts.

And Town's manager revealed today that if Corr plays in a second string game on Tuesday against Cardiff, he will be in contention for a first team comeback at Hereford next Friday.
Meanwhile, left-back Yinka Casal is fit again and is expected to return to the starting line-up on Saturday against Franchise, while Malpas also admitted that he expects no movement in or out of the County Ground before the close of the transfer window.
