Title: Who's leaving then?
Post by: Rich Pullen on Monday, August 4, 2008, 21:27:28
"The boss revealed there has been interest in one member of his squad who could be heading through the exit door, although two players are close to agreeing moves to The County Ground."

Answers on a stamped addressed envelope or postcard.

Blair didn't play tonight did he? That's the basis of my theory.

Wont be a defender as we are short and same with goalkeepers and strikers. I would say either Allen who has something about him and Pook who Mick Harford knows from his time at Swindon to Luton. Wouldn't be on massive wages either.

Sean Morrison didn't play either. Hmmm...

Pook came on as a 2nd half sub tonight....think he replaced Easton if I remember rightly.

I hope it's not Morrison.

Morrison was on for the 2nd half according to the OS match report ...

Title: Re: Who's leaving then?

Also, Will Evans is another big unit isn't he?

What happened to Tom Evans? Thought he was highly thought of but haven't seen him at all this pre-season.

I don't recall him coming on at all, unless I switched off close to the end!

Title: Re: Who's leaving then?

I think it could well be Blair, didn't play at all tonight so maybe something in it?

Title: Re: Who's leaving then?
Post by: wokinghamred on Monday, August 4, 2008, 21:48:35

Harford says he is still looking to sign a wide left player, and a striker, so based on that, and the number of strikers we have, I reckon Blair.

Title: Re: Who's leaving then?
Post by: Arriba on Monday, August 4, 2008, 21:50:47
if it is blair then i hope a replacement is lined up.he's a decent squad striker who hasn't let us down.

Could we consider Joyce as a replacement though?  Still leaves Corr, Cox, Paynter and Peacock.

I rate Joyce over Sturrock, he's developing well.

Just read the O/s and the thing that struck me was the phrase "several signings" two is less than several in my book, so there must be someone else bar ooh betsy and clinker.

I doubt many will agree with me, but I really hope we arent getting rid of Blair Sturrock.

Infact the only player id want rid off would be Pook (has he actually signed a new contact, pulled a fast one if we get some sorta fee for him, although i doubt it!) and the youngsters going out on loan.

Id ditch Robbo to but he isnt fit so wont be going anywhere

Sturrock was in talks with Harford last night who was at the game - I only expect it to be a long term loan though

Someone told me this morning JP McGovern is leaving to a League 2 club..... could be bollocks mind you.

As much as that wouldnt bother me, I doubt it.  Malpas clearly rates him and he's been captain during some pre season games.

Title: Re: Who's leaving then?
Post by: wiggy on Tuesday, August 5, 2008, 08:28:10
My guess would be that JP will become part of the competition for places in central midfield. Allen could then have a season on loan to toughen him up a bit.

Title: Re: Who's leaving then?
Post by: Colin Todd on Tuesday, August 5, 2008, 08:31:55
I think its Blair.  pity in some ways as his permormances improved massivly over the course of last season.

We are striker heavy though, and the emmergence of Joyce as a creditable 1st team player means we can free up sturrocks wages.

Title: Re: Who's leaving then?
Post by: Spencer_White on Tuesday, August 5, 2008, 09:27:12
I hope its JPM, but its probably interest in Brezovan again. Unless they are after the loan player?

JPM does seem to be one of Malpas' favourites, playing him in the middle, making him captain. But McGovern has never performed well for Malpas. I couldnt believe my eyes when JPM was made captain for Cardiff match. Surely Lee Peacock is our second skipper?

Thisis style rumour mill generator - Harford in Town to see who he wants in exchange for you know who?

Harford , Blair and his Agent Barry Gold were deep in conversation in the new Lounge last night. A number of people noted there conversation.. Holding it in the Lounge, in front of 70+ people obviously means that they aren't too bothered that everyone knows..

Draw your own concluisions!

wouldnt be the worst deal in the world would it?

Can we give them paynter as well?

Title: Re: Who's leaving then?
Post by: suttonred on Tuesday, August 5, 2008, 09:57:20
Obviously it should be 2 L2 players for 1 L1 player as we are twice as good! So we get SSP and Sol, they can have Blair on loan.

Title: Re: Who's leaving then?
Post by: Power to people on Tuesday, August 5, 2008, 12:11:08
They can have Blair on a free transfer, it will give young Joyce a chance to stake a claim

£100k + Parkin for Sturrock and Paynter. Great deal ;)

Title: Re: Who's leaving then?

Well JPM still lives in MK so perhaps he was the one Luton are interested in, may not want to move house and bored of travelling to Swindon and Luton is just down t' road from MK.

Or Brez as his agent seems to have been touting a move for him or a wage rise at least.

Title: Re: Who's leaving then?
Post by: janaage on Tuesday, August 5, 2008, 13:20:34
I think Blair would do Lu'on a good job, he's more effective than Peacock up front.

From what I've heard, Brez has done little this summer to suggest he deserves a wage rise. Obviously Sturrock for Parkin would be great, and it might help us make 6k...but it isnt going to happen is it!
I wouldn't have thought JPM would be going out, as we seem short of wide options as it is. Obviously Betsy coming in would resolve that situation

Title: Re: Who's leaving then?
Post by: suttonred on Tuesday, August 5, 2008, 13:51:48
Maybe is JPM though as MM could then get Betsy and Marshall, and he might be swapping for Sol? Pipe dream but i nearly convinced myself whilst typing. Would solve most of our gaps.

Title: Re: Who's leaving then?
Post by: Rich Pullen on Tuesday, August 5, 2008, 17:19:36
A player like J-P McGovern would not risk falling out of the football league... However, if it means a potential 46 games - Blair Sturrock would take the risk, in my opinion.

Title: Re: Who's leaving then?
Post by: tans on Tuesday, August 5, 2008, 18:41:08
On a bad day a player like JP McGovern shouldnt be in the football league..

I think its Blair for what its worth.

Title: Re: Who's leaving then?

Yeah I am certain he does still live there but as you say he may be in digs for the week like Luggy was at the Town.

I think whoever it is thats leaving their wages will go to cover the shortfall in Betsy's wages, and hopefully Marshall as well maybe.

Yeah I am certain he does still live there but as you say he may be in digs for the week like Luggy was at the Town.

Sturrock rented a house in Westlecott Road, he then bought one in Okus Road, I think this was his 4th house. I'd guess Blair is there and maybe JPM in the week.

"Digs" somehow gives the impression of renting a room in County Road from Bushey Boy.

Zaaboub lived at a house that Martin Allen (Chrissys dad) owned, Curtis Weston lived with him there aswell until they wrecked it and he booted them out!

That's right Curtis was there.  Apparently he went round there one day to check up on the place, only to see some half dressed frenchman in there hiding in a bed (who wasn't a footballer).  It was one of zaaboub's mates, he tried to get Sandy to sort them out but they never did so like you say he kicked them out at the end of the year.

I concur Rich, especially as two of the signings that Luton have made have been strikers on loan!!  Makes me think that either Sturrock was on too much money or MM wasn't prepared to let him go just yet.
