Title: Re: Spam e-mails Post by: Power to people on Tuesday, July 15, 2008, 14:48:57 It was on the news last week, a young girl had a spam email that purported to be from NatWest and asked her to respond and let them know her password and last 4 digits of her account, so she did thinking it was from NatWest, they then transfered £4k out of her account that she had been saving for her new born baby and of course Nat West refused to refund her money as she had handed over personal details etc so it was her own fault for being drawn into the scam.
In a sense I feel sorry for her as she was obviously not aware of phishing emails but on the other hand surely everyone knows you don't hand over personal bank details unless your in the branch or using internet banking on-line. Ha ha ha. love the fact it's an issue or even mentioned that Natwest refused to compensate her. Of course they'd refuse, if someone sent you a "Jan from the TEF needs to know your bank account details" mail, you obliged and someone fleeced you, I wouldn't feel like paying you compensation either!!
