Ace, according to that site my area will have 21CN next February which should hopefully mean ADSL2+.

Is 21CN good? I get it in November apparently.

It's basically BT updating the "backbone" of their network so that it runs on an IP basis rather than old fashioned POTS.

Simply put, 21CN = faster broadband.

Well, it should do.

I have no idea who to choose as my broadband provider... i now live in Taw Hill and think i am lucky enough not to be running off the Blunsdon excchange. The only unbundled provider in there though is Talk Talk, and i dont really want to use them...

Any reason why you're specifically looking at going on an LLU?

I use talktalk on that exchange and they've been fine, certainly cheaper than BT fwiw.

They supposedly don't have download caps, but they do block rapidshare from me on a regular basis, but i just reset my ip, job done.

Not particularly, was just considering avoiding BT...

BTW, I'm not impressed that BT are trying to charge me £120 to reconnect a line that was in use no less than 2 weeks ago!

Fairy snuff, I've heard it can be a pain trying to switch providers in future though if you're on an LLU.

I'm with PlusNet who buy their ADSL through BT Wholesale and I've never had any problems.

And with regards to reconnecting your BT line, I've moved twice and never been charged to reconnect the line.

Its now "standard procedure" to charge customers 125 quid to connect their phone line up. So every time you move house, prepare to hand over 125 notes to BT for pressing a couple of buttons on the digital exchange......

I use talktalk and to be fair to them I had awful problems to start with but probably the last year has been fine with them, there is a download limt, can't remember what but it is a very high limit though - I think they secretly added it in as I seem to recall reading it on their website.
