I think I'm going to get done for speeding. I didn't notice the squad car sat in the middle of the A420 and I flew past it at 80mph  :(

Do you still have a two year probation period ehereby if you get 6 points you lose your licence?  Are you on 3 points already?

ps. I'm presuming that you passed your test in the last two years.

I've had my licence for about a year, no points and a clean licence.

Whatever happens I'm fucked, points on my licence is going to ruin my insurance costs :/

Ive been convinced ive been done loads of times but only had 3 points, I got poulled at 112 on the m4 one night and only got a ticking off and flew past a squad car last month and they had the sting gun thing but again nothing, quite lucky as im always getting in trouble with teh boys in blue and its never me.

It's only that I've been done by a squad car before and they stopped me.  Same happened to a friend of mine not long ago too.  I've also been caught by a camera and got a letter but it never went through.  You might be lucky.

Thing is, where they were stopped they wouldn't be able to pull out and stop me very easily, so I'm not if that's why they were there.

I'd be surprised if you get done for only doing 80mph.

Was it a squad car as in normal police car or a safety camera unit? If its a regular police car you'l be okay i think.

it doesnt matter if its a copper car or a camera unit! if the cops are there then theyve seen you its as simple as that! if they didnt see ya then you got away with it!

they cant just say "you were speeding" they have to give details. so they need a speed gun or to stop you but to be honest thats unlikely.

Were they pointing a speed gun at you?  If they weren't, then don't worry, they wouldn't be able to prove how fast you were going in court.

It pains me to say it but I think you will be ok.  If they were that bothered they would have come after you.

If it was me I would have come after you, pulled you over and done the old 'Oh dear sir, you seem to have a faulty rear light, but it was fine this morning, (smashes light with truncheon) well it isn't now' routine.

I think I got done last Friday. I was doing 37mph on a 30 road.

Ah but they do have to have evidence.  "I thought his speed was excessive, Your Worship" doesn't stand the test.

Unless they were pointing a speed trap at you, you should be fine. The cameras in squad cars measure the average speed over a certain distance (this is what the white circles/squares/diamonds on dual carriage ways are for), but they have to be following you while they film it.

Conclusion, you should be fine Sonic, unless it's one of those fancy new camera unit things

I was going about 115 down Blunsdon Hill a couple of years ago then noticed there was a squad car waiting in the middle of the road, slammed on the brakes as there was no-one else on the road and got down to about 80 as I went past, thought they were going to come after me or then send a letter but they didn't. :beers
