Title: Diesel
Post by: janaage on Monday, June 16, 2008, 12:13:37
Anyone know of any local garages that still have supplies of this rare product?  We are running on vapours!  I only want £10's worth as I should be getting my car back today or tomorrow!

If you get too low filter some used cooking oil (as its thinner than brand new oil...which will also run ok), as long as its mixed with some in the tank the car will run perfectly well, I used to do a 50% mix in my mondeo diesel and it ran great but smelt like a chip fryer!

Disclaimer...I cannot be held responsible for any ill effects if your car is not one of the types of filter that cannot run the oil!

If the strike don't end Shell have 3 days to replenish stocks from tomorrow before the next one. Not sure why the increased demand at other garages should cause supply issues. Unless the lazy bastard tanker drivers are refusing to cross Shells picket line.

I just drove back from a long weekend ooop north. No issue getting petrol whatsoever. Anywhere. However the last garage was out of buffet bars. Bastards.

The government needs to step in soon, it's getting absolutely ridiculous.

I've heard stories of ambulances unable to run cos of fuel costs being so high.

You need to be very well off these days to drive a car. I'm just thankful that I don't need my car for work and only use it for leisure purposes.

They can lower the tax, but it'd be a short term solution to the ever rising price of oil. Demand has increased more than supply, price goes up.

Some bloke from Shell was on Radio 5 yesterday, the majority of the drivers are employed through a third party agency - and this new pey deal the third party is ofeering would take the average driver salary for that organisation to £41,000... for fucks sake get back to work you cunts.

Abdul in the little garage next door to my work has diesel left - I just went in to fill up with petrol as most of the garages round here are now empty or closed except to emergency services

The queues have been up the road all day - he told me he took 16 grand in fuel Sat and 18 grand yesterday - he has also put the prices up but is justifying it by saying he is the only one who can offer the service in the area  :-))(

Fair enough though isn't it? Everyone bleats about Deans in Marlborough charging 140-odd a litre. He was the first person in the country to go over a quid as well.

But if people don't like it drive to Fyfield (5 minutes) or Chiseldon (10 mins), it's not that hard.

Where were you planning on filling it up STA?

As for Paula (Abdul) you should have given the bloke a slap.  It's expensive enough without adding to people's misery.

Hopefully people will remember his shinanigans when things return to normal and not shop there anymore.

Had a look around  while I was out, 2 closed esso garages, the garage by co-op in old town had petrol and Asda had something but I couldn't see what.

i rented a Vauxhall Vivaro van over the weekend, £40 in diesel for Norwich-London and back which I thought wasn't too bad. Probably would have been a tenner cheaper not too long ago though.

Driving after about a year off was ace ace fun. Left London at midnight on Sunday and ragged it back - the beauty of a hire vehicle is that you can do pretty much anything in it.

I chucked £20 in on Sunday and thank god for new work, takes virtually no time to get there so doesn't cost me much.  If I was still commuting to Cheltenham I'd be screwed.

One things for sure, glad I got a railcard for footy next season as considering its going to cost me £34 return for Leeds I doubt I'll be driving to many games bar the likes of Northampton or similar distance.
