Title: Cristiano Ronaldo Post by: Rich Pullen on Friday, June 6, 2008, 09:05:28 I'm actually enjoying this whole thing.
Every summer the Premier League's better players are linked with moves away - in the past Patrick Vieira and Thierry Henry were always linked with moves long before they actually left. That's fair enough, that's the media and that's players trying to get bigger pay cheques for you. To be honest I've barely read a thing about the Ronaldo situation because you can get the jist of it by reading the headlines on BBC etc. Anyway I find it amusing because this is a player who has easily had one of the best individual seasons in Premier League history - he's loved by the Manchester United fans and generally loathed by the rest. Now he's acting like he wants to prove the loathers right and leave for Real Madrid. How can Manchester United's fans like him even if he stays? This will surely effect his performances next season and they'll all know that he wants to be somewhere else. He's being stupid for not denying these media quotes, if only to keep his employers happy and he was very stupid for signing such a big contract. United were stupid to believe that he was "United". If I was Ferguson I'd take the record breaking transfer fee. Title: Cristiano Ronaldo Post by: DMR on Friday, June 6, 2008, 09:17:38 How can the Man Utd fans like him? Well, because he's the best in business.
I'd also dispute he's loathed by everyone else. I'm not a Utd fan and think he's ace. Title: Cristiano Ronaldo Post by: flammableBen on Friday, June 6, 2008, 09:24:07 As every year passes the transfer rumours between Europe's top clubs becomes more and more like something you might see in some sort of WWF Wresteling script thingy.
It's only a matter of time before the whole of top flight football becomes set up. Fan's have turned their back of the real struggle of supporting a shit club, they just want instant excitement. Might as well make sure they get what they want by hiring someone to write it. Title: Cristiano Ronaldo Post by: Rich Pullen on Friday, June 6, 2008, 09:25:07 But, that's not how football fandom works is it? If a player shows their desire to leave they tend to lose the support of the fans.
I said generally loathed. I think he's the best player in the Premier League by far. Title: Cristiano Ronaldo Post by: Chubbs on Friday, June 6, 2008, 10:11:55 he will stay at man u
Title: Cristiano Ronaldo Post by: stfctownenda on Friday, June 6, 2008, 10:21:17 Simple decision for him for me stay at Man Utd couple more years and go down as a legend and then take your move to Real Madrid or he can leave this season and be remembered as a greedy bastard who jumped ship.
Title: Cristiano Ronaldo Post by: Chubbs on Friday, June 6, 2008, 10:26:05 he will stay at man u

Title: Cristiano Ronaldo Post by: janaage on Friday, June 6, 2008, 10:31:09 Who needs £300,000 a week after tax? That kind of money is obscene. And the reason why football is no longer just a game. which is a shame really.

It does seem odd to me that someone would move to double their money when the starting point is £120k a week! If Ronaldo stayed on that wage level for 10 years then including sponsorship and endorsments he would be worth more than £100m by the time he retires FFS! How much more do you need?!? It would seem odd to move just for money in that scenario when he already has it on a plate for him at Man U...... superstardom, aclaim, sustained personal and team success as well as huge financial rewards Title: Cristiano Ronaldo Post by: Kinky Tom on Friday, June 6, 2008, 12:39:19 It's not the earning the the money at that stage though - more the kudos of being the best payed player in the world. He knows he doesn't need all that money just wants to be seen as earning that much money.
Title: Cristiano Ronaldo Post by: Arriba on Friday, June 6, 2008, 12:48:59 i wouldn't be surprised if he went.he's won the double so what can beat that by staying at utd?
that said i wouldn't be surprised if he stayed also. top player and i like watching him Title: Cristiano Ronaldo Post by: The Grim Reaper on Friday, June 6, 2008, 12:52:51 Quote from: "DMR" How can the Man Utd fans like him? Yes withouth a doubt he has the skill, the talent and the ability yet time and time again he chooses to 'fall' over and get his oponent sent off. No class whatsoever. He WILL go to Real Madrid thats for certain, but it will not effect Uniteds current dominant position. No doubt when he goes for the £75M offered, United will scupper their City rivals bid for Ronaldinho. Title: Cristiano Ronaldo Post by: Samdy Gray on Friday, June 6, 2008, 13:03:59 Ronaldinho is past his best and is, IMO, nowhere near as good as Ronaldo. United would be better of buying someone like Messi or Bojan.

Title: Cristiano Ronaldo Post by: Lumps on Friday, June 6, 2008, 13:21:17 Much as I hate to admit it he's possibly the best player ever to play in the Prem.
Fergies "we have to win major trophies to keep these players" line looks a bit daft now. If you win THE biggest trophies on offer and your star player still looks elsewhere, you can only assume it's because he wants to play for Real and live in Spain. Let's face it Manchester or Madrid on more money, which would you choose? Title: Cristiano Ronaldo Post by: herthab on Friday, June 6, 2008, 13:56:21 I very rarely watch any premiershit football, so I don't give a fuck if he stays at manure, or fucks off....................
Title: Cristiano Ronaldo Post by: flammableBen on Friday, June 6, 2008, 13:58:32 He's just a second rate Aaron Brown.
Title: Cristiano Ronaldo Post by: Power to people on Friday, June 6, 2008, 14:23:44 I don't like the cheating little portugeser and I don't like Manu (although I now hate Chelsea more) but you have to admit he done well last season - regardless though I think utd would be stupid to let Real dictate to them and unsettle the player

Title: Cristiano Ronaldo Post by: Matchworn Shirts on Friday, June 6, 2008, 15:06:28 Good player, but over-rated.
I bet now I have said that he will score against us in Euro 2008 and play like a genius Title: Cristiano Ronaldo Post by: lebowski on Friday, June 6, 2008, 16:31:37 Man United's hypocrisy in all of this is really quite embarrasing. It was only last summer that they signed Owen Hargreaves using the exact same method that Real Madrid are using now.
Then there was Jaap Staam... etc. Title: Cristiano Ronaldo Post by: reeves4england on Friday, June 6, 2008, 17:13:00 Quote from: "Dachauer" Good player, but over-rated. Along with Rooney, Ferdinand, Gerrard Lampard. I could go on and on. Title: Cristiano Ronaldo Post by: Rich Pullen on Friday, June 20, 2008, 10:03:24 Ronaldo is a moron - He had talent but Manchester United made him - I dislike him and I dislike Man Ure so I find this all highly amusing.
I still think Ferguson should take the money and buy better players - Ronaldo can and will be replaced. That's absolute tosh, he is totally irreplaceable and Utd know it, he knows it & Madrid know it. That's not to say they shouldn't sell him, if the price is right and he wants out he's never going to replicate his form. Ronaldo is an outstanding player - so was Cantona - they couldn't replace his character but they replaced him adequately when they said they couldn't. They may not replace him like-for-like - but I have no doubts they will. Title: Cristiano Ronaldo Post by: strooood on Friday, June 20, 2008, 10:51:14 if ronaldo goes, (for the record i really can't see it happening, think how many massive transfer sagas beckham went through before he finally upped and left) no doubt man utd will buy a couple of absolute gems to replace him.
These will be of the villa, benzema, kaka, robinho, ben arfa ilk. and for the rumoured sums they could easily afford two of the above with the money recieved. but he'll stay at United. He'll get one hell of a bollocking upon his return! I can't see him replicating his form next season after all this (he is a known sulker) and therefore probably be sold on next summer.... to Barcelona :) Title: Cristiano Ronaldo Post by: Scot Munroe on Friday, June 20, 2008, 16:48:18 Quote from: "strooood" These will be of the villa, benzema, kaka, robinho, ben arfa ilk. and for the rumoured sums they could easily afford two of the above with the money recieved. you can add Podolski, Aguero and Sergio Ramos to the list. Title: Re: Cristiano Ronaldo Post by: Rich Pullen on Friday, July 18, 2008, 19:18:53 You can always rely on Alex Ferguson & Manchester United, they never let you down - weeks/months of moaning about Real Madrid's conduct, they've (predictably) done more-or-less the same to Tottenham RE: Berbatov.
Nice quote by Mr. Levy too. "Today's public comments by Manchester United's manager, announcing that he has made an offer for Dimitar and is confident that the deal will go through with time working in their favour, is a blatant example of sheer arrogance and interference with one of our players," said Levy in a statement on the club's official website."
