Post by: janaage on Wednesday, June 4, 2008, 07:59:36
...shit heads!!

Peacock, Roberts, Amankwaah????? Murray??????

Now I'm not one to judge but could we please stop buying these ex-shit heads please.

(I realise I'm jumping the gun a little but what was wrong with only chasing ex-Watford players, other than Moses).

City have become, and will probably remain for some time, the biggest team in the region. City cast-offs are probably something we're going to have to live with over the next few years.

As long as we get first dibs to rummage through their trash pile for gems, before dirty Rovers, Cheltenham and Yeovil  get their grubby claws gripped onto them. It might not be such a bad thing.

Why not? He would score more than the rest of our strikers on his own in a season.

I couldn't give a shit who we sign, if it means getting into the play offs because we've signed 10 ex City players then so be it.

Maybe I'm being a bit old skool, but the thought of more ex-city players doesn't excite me.

Despite what the majority feel about certain players I've been sat near an ex-city Swindon player laughing about Swindon being a town full of inbreds etc.  Doesn't make me feel as if he's as into Swindon as he appears to be.

Maybe I'm wrong though eh?

I agree with you on this.  The Scott Murray baiting that went on makes it hard to imagine someone like him being part of our team.

Perhaps when our youth set up becomes more established we can take credit for some successful home grown talent.

Reg and others, back in the 70, 80's, early 90's how many of our players had Brizzle club routes?  Just out of interest.  I'm just trying to work out if this is another case of me growing into a grumpy old sod, who should chill out a bit more!!

Let's not forget Steve White for one!  And the player who scored against City at Ashton Gate in the 80's(I only know that because I just watched the goals).

A plethora of examples for you there Jan.

I use to hate City more than Oxford when I first started watching the Town.
Now I find myself hating Rovers more than any other.

And he was big mates with Aaron Brown at City. Which probably means he is also a knob.

Are we supposed to sign inspiring players, or steady players who will do a job in League One?

Can signing a full back ever be that inspiring?

Which players would you consider inspiring Bart? Which players should we sign in order to inspiring the most miserable bastard on the planet?

Bart is a vampire of positivity. He sucks the hope out of things until all that remains is an empty husk of despair.

Go Bart.

Also I couldn't fit all that into his new title so he got a different one instead.

Being a league 1 club I'm not sure what an 'inspiring signing' is. Last time I was excited about a close season signing was Thorpe & Cureton .

Having said that, the Planet Swans message board don't seem to be too upset at losing him. He's hardly played over the last 2 years. They paid £200k for him, so he must have had something once.  Then again, Jason Drysdale.

I seem to remember he was a pretty good player at Yeovil, think that was a loan spell though. I reckon he could be a decent signing for us, based on that and his potential on CM 0102.

Not many in the years you describe ....more have gone the other way.

Howard Pritchard in the 80's was ex City, as was John Emanual who had a short loan.  Kevin Baddeley was a Swindon boy who went to City, may not have played many games and came home for a couple of seasons.

Of course recently there's been Oolit and Chavmeister.

Rovers have probably supplied a few more...including Chalkie and Timmy Parkin......the hugely shit Gary Emmanual was Rovers we traded him for Animal Williams....

I watched the Wanker when we played Yeovil a bit back....he's an athlete, can get up and down the park, which could be highly useful away from home, but in keeping with a lot of this type,  does bugger all with the ball.

A Swansea mate agreed this would be the reason Martinez didn't fancy him.

In the "olden" days, there was less player movement full stop, so it didn't happen as much.  PLus you often had a few local lads in the team who would have carried the "attitude" of dislike with them if they had of moved.  These days we are talking about signing ex City players who have pretty much no real interest in City or Bristol, or probably even the West Country.  I'd be miffed it were talking about signing City fans, but does this guy really have any interest in them or our rivalry? doubt it.

If you watch Scott Murray you can tell it does mean something to him. Celebrates properly, pulls out big performances, big goals, what the fans love to see. To be honest he's been a class act for City. He didnt do well at Reading either, which suggests he didnt really want to be there. Same with John McGinlay at Bolton, just seemed to have such an affinity with the club. The hatred stems from a bit of jealousy really because you think why dont our players celebrate with the fans like they do?

As for this bloke were about to sign, Ive got nothing against him for being a fringe City player. Just have a problem with him being crap. Scott Murray doesnt seem so bad after all now.

The reject thing does hurt, because the boot was on the other foot not so long ago.

Had quick look through some of the reports and fan's comments from I'm a Wanker's time at Brizzle, Yeovil and Swansea 06/07 and it's all quite impressive stuff.

Like Reg and Robbo Roberts mentions in todays Adver he's big, tall, strong and likes to get forward and he certainly creates a few goals along the way.

Give him, a full pre-season and half a dozen straight games and see what the result is.  Could be a hidden gem.

That was far too pendantic. Sorry.
