Driving my lorry round North Devon today it made me think what a stunning part of the country it is....i dropped in Torrington,Holesworthy and finally Bude,the grockles wernt happy i parked on the front for an ice cream and then it happened....cats and dogs,and then it dawned on me why i like Lanzorotte so much!

  I've cycled through that part of Devon...along the coast from Boscastle to Bude, there's little more than lanes, beautiful scenery but tough on the legs, then on to Great Torrington through the lanes via Bradworthy. There's some interesting lakes. Camped outside Barnstaple before crossing Exmoor.

  I love Exmoor, though everytime I go there it seems to rain.  The nearby Brendon Hills are a bit neglected as an attraction, but I did soime walking there about 5 years ago...and its classic  scenery, although I think in Somerset.

bude is lush

 I've often thought walking the South-West Peninsula coast path would be a mighty thing to do....it's about 500 miles, but very up and down so feels like more.  I've done lots of bits, either walking or cycling....but it is extremely beautiful apart from the odd grotty bit or place with poor access.

Does Bude have a swimming pool  thats sort of part of some Cliffs and filled by the Sea?

You missed the best bit if you cut inland from Bude, up from the Hartland Peninsula, past Clovelly around past Saunton Sands, Croyde Bay, Woolacombe and Morthoe, where I've stayed in the Lighthouse at Bull Point a few times, around past Lee adn Watermouth to Lynton and Lynmouth.

Lovely bit of coast and because it's a bit tucked away in the corner it gets missed by a lot of people and is fairly quite.

Bude is not only lovely it's in effin' CORNWALL!!!!  (And so is Boscastle!!!)

I must admit due to my Mrs' family living down there we're becoming semi locals of the little place, which is home to the worst Indian I've ever been in "A Taste of India" awful place.

Orvil the swimming pool is just of Summerleaze beach, never been in it but looks class.  Just on top of the cliff from there is the cricket pitch, lovely views from there!!

Lovely lovely town just wish there was decent work prospects down in the Bude area.

I've not long been back from Croyde, I loved it there, it was gorgeous. I love Woolacombe too, it's my favourite place to go on hols to in this country.

Did you go to Puttsborough beach Birdy?

yes it was lovely!  Hardly anyone there!  Isn't the beach privately owned?

Check out Crackington Haven further down the coast from Bude, no that's a lovely drive and there are some decent coastal walks around there!!

talking about cracking parts of the UK i was in Porthmadog last week for a holiday.
Drove round the base of Snowdonia and around the mountain roads.

It was just a fantastic part of the country

i drove through pinehurst turned left after about 30 secounds turned left again to a region called penhill.Oh hhat majestic scenery it took my breath away,i carried on to somewhere called the valley.The people are so friendly they share houses and also car wheels,and probably parteners.This valley area sure puts the grand canyon to shame.

I went in that pool a couple of times when I stayed in Bude. It was bloody cold - to the extent that you swam toi the other side as fast as you could so you could breathe again!Have to gree with magic about Snowdonia - amazing place

Crackington Shaven ?

 If you could be arsed to get out of your car, then the Sevenfields  Conservation Area is a fine place, butting as it does onto Penhill.  Its run and maintained by the locals....they get a bit of trouble from the natives, but its an area of traditional meadow, hedgerow with a small wood.

I was walking through the Groundwell housing estate the other day and looked over towards Penhill and the thing that struck me was what a lovely green looking valley that place is.

The council that agreed to build a council estate on such an area should have been shot.  I actually took a moment to imagine what it'd look like without the houses there and realised it'd be a treasure of Swindon.

 I've done that bit another time, though not on my bike....camped up near Woolacombe and walked the coast path.....there's a mad campsite nearby which I gave a miss, marvellous views but the pitches were more or less 45 degrees.

where we've stayed a few times. Great location, nicely out of the way up on the cliffs looking out to sea.

went camping at woolacombe and a big yellow bus used to do shuttle runs down to the beach.has great weather when i was last there.
croyde and ilfracombe are nice places too i thought.
prefer south devon myself though

Well ime off to Liskeard and St Austell tomorow,historic but no great shakes these days.
