Title: Holiday's
Post by: Power to people on Tuesday, May 13, 2008, 15:39:28
So where is everyone going for their hols this year then ?

Do you book to go outside of the season or go during the season and hope not to miss a game ?

For the first time I have booked a hol without knowing if I will miss a game...I usually tell the mrs we can't book anything until I know the fixtures so I can make sure I don't miss a game when we are away....I couldn't get away with it this year though

I might need to go to Australia this for on "Personal Business", during which time I will have next to nothing to do. Asides from that a long weekend away from baby sitting would be a welcome holiday for me.

Not at all I just chose to spend my money on other things.

Made the decision years ago to go to uni, which pretty much meant I couldn't have a holiday. Made for a fun 3 years though so was well worth it.

Family couldn't really afford to take me on holidays, my last one was when I was 15.

I tend to use most of my time off work to study for exams, so don't have any available to go away for a substantial length of time.

All lifestyle/career choices. I'll treat myself to a holiday when I qualify. Probably won't be anything extravagent. It's just nice to get away from all you worries once and a while.

Glastonbury, hopefully Vegas again on a lads trip this time and New York paid for through a comp I won at work.

To be honest though I'd fuck it all off just to pick up the backpack again and just fuck off for 10-12 months and live like a bum.

Yes, Meerufenfushi (or something like that - Meeru for short). Very nice indeed and highly recommended. Also been to Meedhupparu - full of Italians and few Brits = not as nice. Bear in mind you will almost certainly have a speedboat or seaplane transfer involved, and I thoroughly recommend you upgrading flights to scheduled flights on Emirates or equivalent (rather than the rather cramped Monarch  )

Off to Santorini for two weeks later in the month, cameras in tow.

Lash - check out the reviews on these websites on Meeru

http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g298332-d316973-Reviews-Meeru_Island_Resort-North_Male_Atoll.html

http://www.holidays-uncovered.co.uk/maldives/north-male-atoll/meeru-island-resort.html

It is a fantastic place, BUT if you are an active holidaymaker, beware. Apart from the scuba diving and snorkelling (which are world class), there is little else to do except relax. Pretty much the same can be said about all the Maldivian islands though.

The locals are bloody brilliant, and most are footy mad - there was a pitch on Meeru and the locals (staff) were always willing to play against the tourists.

Off to Munich for teh beer festival in Septemnber and then looks like Gambia in October with the mrs (but I think I might change that!)

Tried to look into cost of a week with lads in Ibiza but dont think I will as it will be too tempting out there for narcotics!

Glastonbury is all i have planned.

I am looking to go somewhere hot and cheap for a fortnight in September, but i have no idea where is good really. I'll be going with the girlfriend and my last few trips have been either with my mates on the piss, or to follow England in the Euro qualifiers... any advice would be nice.

Probably Dublin for New Year again.

Cannes is brilliant - as are surrounding towns/cities Nice and of course just up the road Monaco

The drive down through France isnt as bad as you think .. very picturesque and the roads are pretty empty on the whole
