Title: Summer Drinks
Post by: Luci on Tuesday, May 13, 2008, 09:03:21
Ok so whats the best summer tipple for a hot day?

I personally think a glass of white wine goes down well (Retsina my choice), as does a Gin (Bombay Sapphire) and Tonic with fresh lime.

Anyone have any favourites?

What Yeovil said.

And I don't care what those marketing types tell you, it is just plain wrong to serve cider over ice.

I love Pimms, very refreshing indeed.

But Campari is my main summer drink with orange and lots of ice, nothing better when just sitting relaxing in the sun.

Anyone who ruins a a good Jamesons with lemonade needs a bit of a bollocking.

Cold bottle of a crisp lager on a sunny day always does me. Preferably Peroni or Millers at the moment.

Gin (Bombay Sapphire) and Tonic with fresh lime.  Spot on Lady plus cider of any sort although more than two pints the sweet stuff is a bit much.

I love my vodka as well.  A shot of Grey Goose from the freezer over straight over rocks or with Cranberry (don't mock ti'll you've tried it).

I'd probably have to say cider as it is often what I want to drink on a hot summers day, although most cold drinks do the trick

there's a farm near us between brighton and eastbourn on the a27 called middle farm (how novel).
they sell 40pt kegs of cider for £45. best thing is, they take u around and let you try all the different ciders before buying.
we usually plum for the slightly cloudy effort called sheppys. dryish but with a sweet aftertaste and gets everyone battered, split it between 6 or 7 of you and its the perfect barbecue tipple before heading off out.

there's this clear stuff called devilishly strong, fuck me it's mental. about 18% cider. ouchies.

and dave for christ sake blended mass produced jamesons?? best thing for it is lemonade i say. bleurgh

also good effort on the thread lady.

Good work.. its usually worth the effort to seek out and patronise small scale operators.

I used to go to Bristhole a fair bit....and get cider from a fella down in the docks went by the name of Dixey....his best was Crippled Cock.  8)

Also used to go to Much Marcle....before I knew about Fred West and get Weston's perry.....now I can't be arsed, just drink any old commercial shit.

Hmmmmm, Irn Bru rules... good for hangovers too.

I've got a batch of Crippled Cock in my garage somewhere, it's really nice, but i ffel like shit the next day usually.

Is there anywhere local i can pick up some good home made cider (as in no more than 20 minutes drive away)?
