Title: FAO Nerds Post by: DV on Friday, May 9, 2008, 18:44:15 If I were to buy a new iPod because mines years old and big and heavy is there anyway of either;
Transfering songs from one iPod to another or, Transfering all my music from my iPod back onto my PC ? Title: FAO Nerds Post by: lebowski on Friday, May 9, 2008, 18:45:53 Your ipod is basically a portable hard-drive. You'd probably have to do option 2.
Title: FAO Nerds Post by: lebowski on Friday, May 9, 2008, 18:49:01 That is my understanding of the situation vis-à-vis transferring yer ipod library.
Title: FAO Nerds Post by: STFC_Gazzza on Friday, May 9, 2008, 18:49:32 Don't you have to keep your music on your PC anyway so its just a case of plugging a new ipod in and then syncing the new one to the existing songs saved on the hard drive?
Title: FAO Nerds Post by: DV on Friday, May 9, 2008, 18:55:20 Quote from: "STFC_Gazzza" Don't you have to keep your music on your PC anyway no, no I dont.... so if anyone knows how to transfer from iPod back to PC let me know!! Title: FAO Nerds Post by: Nemo on Friday, May 9, 2008, 19:00:07 Plug it in and it will say something like "There are files on this ipod that aren't on the pc, do you want to transfer them". If it doesn't, try enabling disk mode and treating it like a datapen.
Title: FAO Nerds Post by: Noel Gallagher on Friday, May 9, 2008, 20:16:30 You need to get some kind of software I used a programme called IsyncTunes as you cannot directly transfers music from your ipod to a new ituns library.
Title: FAO Nerds Post by: Barry Scott on Friday, May 9, 2008, 20:29:24 I'm a wannabe nerd, so will pipe up and tell you you can do it via SSH without any explanation as to how exactly you do it, or what SSH is.
I think that's my hourly quota of pointless replies put to bed for the next 60 minutes. Title: FAO Nerds Post by: DV on Friday, May 9, 2008, 20:31:05 if I ask what a SSH is will you tell me?
Super Sammy Harkin?!?! Title: FAO Nerds Post by: Batch on Friday, May 9, 2008, 20:32:49 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QsPF8BMF3vU
Does this work for you? Title: FAO Nerds Post by: Simon Pieman on Friday, May 9, 2008, 20:33:38 Google has all the answers
Title: FAO Nerds Post by: Barry Scott on Friday, May 9, 2008, 20:43:25 Quote from: "DV" if I ask what a SSH is will you tell me? Super Sammy Harkin?!?! It's simply short for Secure Shell. Think of it like working in dos to access things and do stuff. I have never owned and ipod and have never done it, but i came across it on a geek forum i frequent, where i was made aware of SSH being used to copy an ipod to a pc. Unfortunately, as i said, it was a pointless post. Ridiculously so in fact. I'm sure you could Google ssh ipod and find the solution. Not being familiar with an ipod, why can't you just access it as an external disk drive and copy the music across? Title: FAO Nerds Post by: Barry Scott on Friday, May 9, 2008, 20:54:06 See Simon has shown you don't need to listen to twats like me trying to look clever. :D
For all the fuss people make about this obvious problem (which i know fuck all about), that solution seems amusingly easy. Title: FAO Nerds Post by: Simon Pieman on Friday, May 9, 2008, 20:56:52 Google is your friend.
Except if you search for "granny porn beastiality". Unless you like that sort of stuff. Title: FAO Nerds Post by: DV on Saturday, May 10, 2008, 21:32:22 right, got that all sorted
Anyone have any suggestions as to where I can find a free DVD to iPod converter that isnt only a trial version. I've had a look around and tried about 10 different things today, and have all been trials that have Trial Version written across the screen! http://howto.diveintomark.org/ipod-dvd-ripping-guide/ Title: FAO Nerds Post by: DV on Sunday, May 11, 2008, 10:35:22 I tried that one, the GUI from the download is different to that in the demo, it took about 3 hours and only did 30% of the film and then stopped!!
Title: FAO Nerds Post by: Simon Pieman on Sunday, May 11, 2008, 10:37:42 Maybe buy one then DV, or get a serial generator if you don't mind dabbling in the the world of illegal activities.
Title: FAO Nerds Post by: DV on Sunday, May 11, 2008, 10:45:11 I debated buying one, but not just yet, depends if I do actually bother to get a new IPod (will go for a season ticket instead) just trying out the possibilities.
My dad has a video ipod but yesterday was the first time I looked into actually putting films on there, so the trail versions are fine and if I did actually get a video ipod where I could put my 40 odd DVDs on there, then I think I'd be able to spare the 20 quid. However, this is the internet - you can usually find just about anything!! I've used DVDdecrypter before to rip stuff, but not owning an ipod I don't have issues with the second step :D Title: FAO Nerds Post by: DV on Sunday, May 11, 2008, 19:46:06 I havent replied because it works.
I should say thanks really.... Thanks.... :D Although is does pick and chose which DVD is wants to copy from. Doesnt like Casino Royale (the one film my dad wants on his ipod for when he goes on holiday!) Title: FAO Nerds Post by: Simon Pieman on Sunday, May 11, 2008, 20:10:45 You should say thanks. People will think you're ungrateful and not help you in the future :wink:
Try looking and downloading a trial version of AnyDVD and uninstall when you've used it for those discs. |
