We have made national cuts and rounds have been made bigger.

Each member of staff got £400 bonus today in their wage packet  :)

My gross pay for this week is £900.

my department is so understaffed (due to nobody wanting to do the jobs as the management is poopy and they're making our lives hell at the minute) its ridiculous, we've got 6 vacancies but they wont recruit anyone new, as it costs money. never mind the fact customer service is going downhill, they dont seem to care we're now in a competitive market. grrrrrrrrr.

The only competition you have is when the scouts do a 5p delivery at Xmas (and even then they do it better than your lot)

business mail has been poached by foreign mail companies, they're cherry-picking the most lucrative contracts (and fucking them up too quite often i might add, quite a few have moved back to RM as the others lose more mail than we do) and TNT are talking about competing against us in the postal market too, but again they'd be cherry-picking, they'd only handle mail going between big cities.

the government are a bit stupid, i cant honestly see any other country that has a rather large interest in the profit of their nation mail service opening the mail market up to foreign-owned businesses.

Thats odd.  I was under the impression they got "held up" one way or another on a daily basis due to the lateness of post.  :twisted:

The thing is, people still think we have a set delivery pattern of first and second delivery, this finished years ago.

We now start work at 6am and by the time we've finished sorting the mail and prepping our rounds for delivery we don't leave the office untill gone 9 am.

Our finish time is 2pm so what people consider 'late' isn't because we're still in our duty time.

If these posties start work at 6 in the morning, how can they be so disorganised that they still end up delivering mail over 10 hours later. Its not rocket science. If 13 year olds up and down the land can get papers delivered by half 7 then why cant they finish their delivery by midday at least.

Ralphy it's late. We want our post in the morning, getting it hours after is considered late.

Because when someone goes sick the round needs covering and this is done by someone doing their round and then doing another on overtime.

We start delivering at roughly 9am, the round is done in a set order. Your house must be near the end of the round.

Everybody can't have their mail at the same time i'm afraid.

Ha I love this thread.  Ralphy Royal Mail are fucking up so much over teh past 3/4 years.  I now send any important mail via courier as it gets lost so much with RM.

Reading your guys stories etc I will never (touch wood) work for anyone ever again.  Couldnt do it

Ralphy I don't think anyone is disputing the fact that you do deliver within your set hours, save times where you need to cover other rounds.

The argument is RM setting these times so 'usefully' actually pisses people off.

Don't take it personally, but many people don't think the company you work for is very good.

blame the decisions made by management,not the postman on the street.
the posties want to give a good service and can see what is happening.they strike because of this and cuts,etc,etc.

  I think it's impressive that it takes Ralphy about 5 hours to unload his sack...I suppose he does it all by himself though, which slows the process down.

Unfortuntely our office doesn't have a nightshift. The offices that do, is purely just to sort the mail.
