Title: Council Tax workers are stupid Post by: pumbaa on Monday, April 21, 2008, 21:12:47 True story. Moved into my apartment almost 2 months ago. The letting agent told me that they would 'sort out' contacting the utility companies for us. Now, almost two months later, I've still heard sod all from Wessex Water, or North Somerset DC regarding my council tax.
I'm keen to not end up with a huge bill - I'd much rather budget on a monthly basis - so to avoid this scenario due to some retard at the Council forgetting to send me any information, I phone them today. After spending 15 minutes trying to locate my apartment, which included the following questions: Q. Is it a new build? A. No, its located on the site of the Old Hospital in Weston, so I think its been here for a few years. Q. Is it near x Heathcote? A. Where the fuck is that? Repeat with about 10 other street names that I hadn't heard of. Q. What was your previous address? A. xxx Cambridgeshire. Q. Is that in North Somerset? A. No dear, its 200 miles away......I dread to think what might have happened to the shared brain cell if I'd told the stupid wench I'd been living in the USA for 3 years.....is that in England Sir....... Repeat to fade, at which point I asked said dumb strumpet if she actually lived in Weston, which she replied in the affirmative. I then told her that my suspicions were confirmed that she was indeed a bit thick. Recently had a landlord who dies, wroite to council tax asking for bill to be put in my name, they took landlord to court even though I had paid. I turned up, the council were saying 'why hasnt clinet come' I answered 'hes dead' showed the certificate and they still argued, court had a go at council.
