Title: Cancelling Setanta
Post by: Sussex on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, 15:46:58
Good luck if anyone tries!

On hold for 20 minutes this morning. Gave up.

Got through after 20 minutes at lunchtime, transfered to relevent department, they hung up on me.

Another 20 minutes just now, but even though it was supposed to be in joint names, it has to be cancelled by Birdy. Who, according to them is now called Linda.  :?

Didn't wan't lower league Scottish football for £9.99 a month in the first place.

Thank fuck Sky is getting put in Monday.

Sorry for the rant.  :D

I hate to break it to you but Sky are equally as pantaloons to get hold of

After ranting - they did accidently send me vouchers and a Sky + box for recommending a friend - I was told if the vouchers arrived to return them.....yeah right!

Birdy looks like a Linda  :soapy tit wank:

Has to be in writing with Setanta I thought.

Email [email protected], they were very efficient when I wanted to swap the feed from one telly to another.

Phone should be fine. All was going well until they noticed I wasn't called Linda. Apparantly my dressing up at weekends doesn't count. Bastards.

Oh joy. When I phoned up to cancel they answered within 30 seconds, must have been lucky. Then they offered me a £5 a month deal for 3 months and hooked me back in.

Time to cancel again. I hope I get through in 30 seconds, just to annoy Sussex.

sky have always been fine with me, apart from one occasion.

we had a new sky box put in and had to have it tuned it, so I rang them up and they wouldnt do it because its in my dads name, he was holiday at the time!!

I could provide all the details they wanted, it was only re-setting something....nothing to do with money, bill or credit cards.

So I had no sky for a week, then their flight got cancelled then my mum was ill and they didnt get back for another week!

2 weeks without sky!!

It was a £9.99 a month deal that came with a freeview box. They forgot to mention it was only for one of the 12 channels they brag about. Just want rid and get Sky in!

For some reason i'm getting setanta free with my tv at the moment.

Not got a card or anything, the freeview is built in, but the last few times i've turned on setanta the football has been on, watched Exeter v Aldershot last night.

I'm getting Setanta put on in time for the Calzaghe fight & the IPL Cricket that starts on Friday.

Setanta are currently doing a deal at £5 a month for 3 months, although there is a connection fee attached.

I shall then attempt to cancel as soon as those 3 months are coming to an end.

You do realise that from next season Setanta have a lot more football? They have some of the home nations Internationals, FA Cup, Premiership, boxing. It's getting a lot better.

Granted, Scottish league football is mince although I do like watching the Old Firm and Edinburgh derby matches.

I have all the sky sports channels, setanta (good for the 5.15 kick offs on Saturdays) and the sports news channels too.  God knows how much it is but its through Virgin and is a pretty good package as we have an abundance of channels.

I have the whole Sky package with all the premium channels and Setanta and pay 60 Euro a month thanks to this dodgy Scottish geezer. Our home regional channel is The Channel Islands! Their news is well funny!

Yes that is what I've got now.  It's good, but it doesn't make up for not having Sky one  :(

We can always re-subscribe when we've got Sky installed.

Calling sky's normal number costs about a pound a minute.

There are local rate numbers available on the internet.

Wankers.

They probably won't give up even after that, we're still getting letters to tell us this months payment has failed to go through.

Er, that's because we've cancelled the account and don't receive the channel anymore. It's not cheap to try and get through to them to tell them this on their contact number either.

Can't you just cancel the payment with your bank and wait for them to contact you?

Yes, but after reading a few threads on t'internet apparently they can re-establish the direct debit without the need of getting your permission. I know it sounds unlikely this is true, but after an incident with the AA taking money from an expired debit card I can quite believe it.
