Title: Giving up caffeine
Post by: Samdy Gray on Tuesday, April 15, 2008, 11:57:45
Fuck this is hard.

I've only been doing it for a couple of days and my body is craving for it. I've gone completely cold turkey, from 10+ cups of tea & coffee a day to no caffeine at all.

I feel like shit, I've got a headache and I'm getting twitchy. Apparently it can take up to 2 months to feel the full effects of giving up caffeine.

why are you doing it? just out of interest?

Living without tea would be like hell

at my old job people were addicted to Diet coke - some used to drink 5 or 6 cans of it a day -  I was actually suprised how addictive it was - when they tried to cut down or give up they were like wild animals!

Having problems with sleep and general lethargy, weird as it sounds too much caffeine can actually slow you down and make you tired.

I've started drinking decaff in the evenings and cutting down on the coffee I drink at work (which is caffeinated). I used to drink 12-15 cups of coffee a day, mainly because I like coffee, more than the caffeine.

I think I drink about 6 cups (maximum) a day of regular coffee at the moment.

I'd rather shoot myself in the face than give up tea. Coffee I go trough stages of drinking fuck loads but then my desire for it seems to switch of for a few weeks, maybe a month. Then it switches back on and I'll go back to drinking a fuck load.

Roibos (Red tea) is naturally decaf and taste nicer than your PG tips or whatever your usual tipple is

I gave up smoking the same way, just completely stopped one day and haven't smoked since.

If I can do it for that I think I can do it the same for caffeine.

Yes I dress them up in clothes like little dolls and make them drink tea!

My freinds daughter has a little play tea set and she makes me sit on the floor and drink pretend tea and eat plastic cake! its great fun

I want a proper tea set - maybe when my mum dies I can have hers - my favourite thing to do when I was little was get it all off the Welsh dresser and clean it

it has a lot of good properties in moderation - reduces risk of one type of diabetes and also Parkinsons and is very rich in anti-oxidants which mop up the free radicals (bad shit) in your cells. But caffeine in excess causes nerve issues and can lead to addictive problems. They also spray a lot of shit on coffee beans which is why I buy organic coffee - Clipper Arabica is lush.
