Title: The next invention. Post by: BANGKOK RED on Friday, April 11, 2008, 13:54:35 That will change teh world.
Just recently we have had Mobile phones and the internet. What a HUGE impact they have had on the way we live and work. But what will be the next biggie I wonder. Possibly virtual reality, making it possible to sit in on a meeting miles away for example. Or some major Biological breakthrough, as controversial as it may be stem cell research and cloning has some potentially hugely positive possibilities. (A cure for cancer perhaps). Personally I would like to see some kind of 4d holographic entertainment system (A replacement for TV?). The technology is there but it just isnt commercially viable yet. Anyone? Have television where you can put your hand into the tv and take the chocolate bar/other item from the view.

Title: The next invention. Post by: Samdy Gray on Friday, April 11, 2008, 14:15:45 I don't think anybody can predict what the next big breakthrough will be.
I think we'll see huge developments in bio-technology. Cloning could be a big thing, but the creation of bio-processors could stem a huge breakthrough in Artificial Intelligence. Title: The next invention. Post by: Jamiesfuturewife on Friday, April 11, 2008, 14:17:08 I would like someone to invent spinning bikes with comfy seats!! my arse is killing!!
failing that a time machine! Title: The next invention. Post by: flammableBen on Friday, April 11, 2008, 14:20:48 I remember writing an essay on Quantum computing, all that Super Position Muili-state stuff seemed mightly impressive. I don't really remember much to be honest. Think I might have been drunk when I wrote it.

It is the dimension where the 3 is next to the 4 on the keyboard and henceforth typos occur. I did consider an edit but I thought that 4d sounded better. Title: The next invention. Where I can have sex with things. Title: The next invention. Post by: Bob's Orange on Friday, April 11, 2008, 15:28:50 I would like someone to invent some kind of transporter like from the film The Fly. I hate travelling when hungover so that would take out the headaches.

Title: The next invention. Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Friday, April 11, 2008, 17:12:49 There's loads of stuff that needs to be invented. Wireless power should be coming soon so phones etc. charge automatically and you don't need any power wires, that'll be quite useful.
There must be a lot more that could be done about food preservation, having to freeze and defrost things just seems very basic. Surely it is possible to invent some kind of vacuum freezer where you just put stuff in and take it out whenever you want and it's preserved perfectly without any need to defrost it. Not forgetting my idea for inflatable Christmas, that was a pretty good invention - should be coming soon. http://www.thetownend.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=115&highlight=inflatable+christmas Title: The next invention. Post by: leefer on Friday, April 11, 2008, 17:33:03 This reminds me of the story about the Americans spending a million dollars in the sixties, during the cold war on a biro that there space folk could use in space for writing down info, when the cold war finished and relations between USA and Russia got better they asked the Russians for some advice, where as the Russians replied weve never had that problem cos we use pencils!

You still seem to get some crackpot who's decided he's invented a crazy never stopping wheel every now and again. They normally involve magnets. Cold Fusion is possible. I'd have thought as an oil crisis looms closer and closer over the next several decades more and more research will be done into such things. Stem Cell research could easily be halted by crazy religious types. Crazy might be a bit harsh, especially as their seems to be so much misinformation out there. The problem is it's easier to protest against something than protest in favour of something. I suppose you could protest against the protesters, but then we might start some mad civil war. Title: The next invention. Post by: Simon Pieman on Friday, April 18, 2008, 18:25:04 Wireless electricity. The concept works, it's just whether you can invent a system whereby devices such as mobile phones can be charged from it.
