my contract is nearly up so it's time for a change, i'd prefer a sony ericsson phone but i like the look of the n95.

any tips etc? ta

Take a look at the N95 in the flesh if you haven't already. I found it to be a great phone massive when I saw it. I normally have the phone in my pocket.

The N82 is similar in functionality but has a differnt form factor, still found it quite big though.

I looked at the K850i, but it didn't seem to offer significant advantage over my K800i. In the end I went for a cheap PAYG skypephone on 3. Until something better comes out....

oh and i also need one that'll work in the USA

K770i is a nice new Sony Ericsson type.  Nothing revolutionary just a good solid 3G handset with decent camera.  Everything a good phone should be.

The K850i and N82 both look and feel very plasticy and cheap.

Nokia 6500 slide is a nice classic weighty blokes phone while the N95 8GB the best for the added features such as camera and GPS but very bulky.

For something a bit different try the mini PDA style HTC touch.

I got a N95 8GB yesterday, it's not that big, fits in my pockets okay.  First impressions is that it's good, had a few probs with my N73, but this with the 8GB memory feels a lot better.

You want a Triband effort then, which is pretty much every new handset bar the very basic models.

Vodafone have it free on a £30 pm contract (although you need to add on the internet bundle).

It's HSDPA (my company launched the first HSDPA network in the world  8)  up to 3.6 Mbps on there but you may need to get your network provider to enable 3G/HSDPA first and possibly re-provide the SIM card.

Plus if you use it watch your data use.  When we tested on an uncapped standard £1.50per MB contract we clocked £100k+of use in just one month on a HSDPA card.

Good choice overall.  Just update the software from the Nokia site when a new firmware version is released.

Wasn't a criticism of you or of the phone, but Sonic expressed an interest in the mobile internet and using it in the USA.

You can save a packet (:)) using free WiFi connections, and these are common in the USA and becoming more common here.

Especially if he's going to Oregon. No need for wired broadband there.

i wanted someone to recommend a phone for me and internet browsing would be very useful as i'll be relying on it for three weeks at the end of the season to see us narrowly miss out on promotion.

free wifi is a massive awesome thing.

I'd also recommend this software for your new N95 especially if you're off roaming...
