Title: scratched cd Post by: oxford_fan on Thursday, February 21, 2008, 14:32:30 am i right in thinking that its only the outer layer that is damaged, and that the cd data below remains in perfect condition? as i'm skint are there any household items i can use to 'fill in the gaps'? or what else is best, should i have to resort to spending?

Rather than paying out again for something you have already paid for.

You load a CD/DVD in, cover it in some chemical and turn a handle, it then scratches off all the damage. It looks fucked when it's finished, but the CD/DVD is back playing as god as new afterwards. I've used it on loads of things and it's amazing. I did manage to break mine though. Although that was because someone walked on it though, not because it's shit. Takes two minutes and afterwards you spray the cd with the stuff I sometimes use to clean my glasses, and wipe it all off. Hey presto. Its a free service to me but to the public its £2 per disc. If you're desperate enough to pay to save the disc then try your local Blockbusters and see if they have one of these contraptions.
