Title: Personal Trainers
Post by: STFC_Gazzza on Thursday, December 27, 2007, 16:03:35
Can anyone recommend a good personal trainer. Prices etc in the Swindon area? I need someone who is going to motivate me to lose weight etc and live healthier. I’ll cut back on drinking in the New Year already that’s a start but I need a swift kick up the ass to motivate me.

This bloke, Les Slinn, is the man. He used to wrok at the gym i used to frequent.

He's a seriously nice bloke, very friendly and seriously knows his shit (he's always on courses!). He used to have a column in the adver and my once 21st sister, was helped, in part, by this man and his constant advice, nagging and upbeat attitude.

Nah I think he's got > 21 sisters....the sister helped being no 21.  Which I suppose is what you mean by used to.

Gazza, I do arse kicking for a very reasonable 21 an hour.

Gary haven't you got a friend you can go to the gym with etc? To me, that really helped get my arse in gear. When my mate and I went to uni I stopped going to the gym, it just wasn't as good without having someone there to push you.

Reg is right. I had 21, and now have many more.

It's not that my Mum's a goer, it's that my Dad has lots of seeds that need sewing. He's stopped naming them after the third and refers to them all as numbers. I'm lucky as i'm the only one to have a name, Dvanaestoro.

Seriously give the bloke a call, he really is a very nice bloke. He'll probably motivate you just by chatting to him.

Think he has the ADHD equivalent of motivation and keeping fit.

Thanks for the advice guys. I contacted Les and he seems like a nice enough guy. I would say £30-35.00 a session is fair. Here is the email I received today. I have since contacted him about an initial meeting session.

Hello Gary,

Thank you for your enquiry.

I like to meet with my potential clients before any training begins to talk to you about what you want to achieve.
At that first meeting if the client wishes to proceed I book you in for a fitness test. I do this with everyone so I know at what fitness level you are at and to enable me to gauge the future training to benefit you most. I also weigh you and take body fat measurements.
If anyone has any injuries, illnesses or high blood pressure I monitor you closely during each training session. I like my clients to wear heart rate monitors to enable me to keep a constant check on your heart rate. I also work with physiotherapists and sports therapists that help rehabilitation and treatment of injuries.
As part of the clients initial assessment I do a nutrition analysis which involves you completing a food diary for one week. I take this information and analyse it to check that you are consuming the correct amount of nutrients to maintain a healthy diet. If you are not, I will give suggested eating plans to help change to a better way of eating and help weight loss if required.

I charge £35.00 per session or £30.00 with one of my staff. Each session lasts one hour. I like the client to book 6 sessions at the beginning but these can be taken weekly, monthly, whenever it suits the client’s availability and budget. This will be discussed at the initial introductory meeting, for which there is no charge. You can have the sessions at home, my fitness studio or a combination of both.

I hope this gives you all the information you need but if you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to meeting you and thank you again for your enquiry.

Cheers
Les

I think a lot of people that go to JJB know Les....I wish I had the money to pay a personal trainer, it's bad enough paying for the gym monthly (not that I've been for about 2 months)  - I think the price for gym's is a rip off though but they have you by the short and curley's as the council run gyms are crap so you have no choice if you want to go to a gym to 'try' and keep fit...or get a 6 pack  :soapy tit wank:
