Title: Forum Game Post by: blinkpip on Thursday, April 14, 2005, 21:20:33 I just been reading topics on Bristol Rovers forum.
And Bristol Rovers and Bristol City have an annual fans football game. Which both clubs pick out their best football players fans and have a game to raise money. I think it's their second game this year and they play at their grounds with the clubs supplying shirts etc. It's serious stuff, rovers had try outs tonight. Could we and poxford ever do the same? Title: Forum Game Post by: Johno on Thursday, April 14, 2005, 21:21:22 interesting.... 8)

Title: Forum Game Post by: Reg Smeeton on Thursday, April 14, 2005, 23:58:04 A forum cricket team has to be a better idea.....Boeta can be captain, Johno can chuck pies, DMR is a useful all rounder and R4E can do the fielding.
Has the advantage of being a long game given ample opportunity for consumption of substances in interesting forgotten corners of Wiltshire. Bird can do the teas  SY could umpire although standing for a couple of hours at a time may be problematic. Dazzza I'd see as the fella who turns up at the pub post match with a couple of fitties, just to show a bit of willing and would turn out if completely necessary. OF has to be useful as an ex public schoolboy.....can purvey leg break and Chinaman being left handed but doesn't go on about it. Yeovil I see as scorer...... Asher certainly wont be involved and can't see Dex on a cricket pitch....Marie I suspect is very good, and could if persuaded keep wicket and bat at 8. Whits.....would act as fixture secretary and treasurer turning out reluctantly......Magic Roundabout will sign up for the tour to Amsterdam, as its a favourite destination for club sides. Ralphy and Sadie will find a quiet corner to watch and roll about in the grass. Simon Pieman wont be around as its in the hols. Jan Aage.....may be a player but wont admit to it as cricket is an English game. Blinkpip will bat three, and shock everyone with his mature cover drive. Piemonte....will expect to bowl first change but throw a wobbler when Boeta decides the pitch is taking spin and brings on OF. Ben Wah Balls will just wonder why Kingy hasn't been picked, but take a fifer and score 50. OJ will be unavailable due to a near death experience brought on by septicemia through an infected toe. OST will be OST. Spacey having turned out for Ciren will prove to be a hostile pace bowler, if a little erratic....Mrs Spacey will have to do teas as Bird will be behind the pavilion with Blackcurrant neglecting her responsibilities. Title: Forum Game Post by: yeo on Friday, April 15, 2005, 00:03:53 :D Can I get drunk and get the scores wrong.
Title: Forum Game Post by: Reg Smeeton on Friday, April 15, 2005, 00:09:29 You will need to liaise with the oppositions scorer who will be an attractive if a little fussy woman of 33...living in a bijou cottage near Brinkworth, having recently separated from her over materialistic partner.
She likes dogs. Title: Forum Game Post by: yeo on Friday, April 15, 2005, 00:11:53 Sounds good to me. :D
Title: Forum Game Post by: sonicyouth on Friday, April 15, 2005, 00:13:53 Can I have another role please? I don't understand cricket enough to umpire.
Title: Forum Game Post by: Reg Smeeton on Friday, April 15, 2005, 00:17:17 The main requirement is impartiality....then an ability to count to six....everything else you can give to the batsman as benefit of doubt.

Title: Forum Game Post by: Kinky Tom on Friday, April 15, 2005, 08:43:39 Well, it seems we need a striker for the football, me being 6'4", and Johno's undoubted crossing ability from the left, I think I could cause some trouble.
As for the cricket, I understand the game quite well, but can't really play it. I've seen a day of Barbados vs New Zealand at the Kensington Oval (Barbados), now I was mighty impressed with the locals drinking copious amounts of rum, and making a hell of a lot of noise using konch shells. I reckon I could fill this role if there is room for it. Title: Forum Game Post by: McLovin on Friday, April 15, 2005, 10:19:24 As left back is taken, i'll take right back, seeing as i'm right footed anyway.
Title: Forum Game Post by: Johno on Friday, April 15, 2005, 14:59:23 reg mate, for the cricket team i'd open the bowling and be number 11 batting :D opened the bowling for wiltshire a few times. got 3-6 once...inspiring 8)
Title: Forum Game Post by: Piemonte on Friday, April 15, 2005, 15:02:21 Why would a bunch of football fans want to play cricket against fans of a rival football team???
A game of football would make a little more sense perhaps? Title: Forum Game Post by: Johno on Friday, April 15, 2005, 15:08:29 well at least we'd win the game of cricket. doubt thats what was meant anyway, just a forum cricket team
