I just been reading topics on Bristol Rovers forum.
And Bristol Rovers and Bristol City have an annual fans football game.
Which both clubs pick out their best football players fans and have a game to raise money.
I think it's their second game this year and they play at their grounds with the clubs supplying shirts etc.
It's serious stuff, rovers had try outs tonight.

Could we and poxford ever do the same?

I've taken a team of my mates to victory in a charity cup, 3-1 winners and a 12 hour drinking binge after which lead to me falling over and breaking the cup.

i played against stfcfan's team tonight we won 5-2, i didnt know which one he was but i recon he should be allowed to play because he had nice hair. i played upfront, left back and centre back today- a jack of all trades, except when i got subbed  :cry:

A forum cricket team has to be a better idea.....Boeta can be captain, Johno can chuck pies, DMR is a useful all rounder and R4E  can do the fielding.

   Has the advantage of being a long game given ample opportunity for consumption of substances in interesting forgotten corners of Wiltshire.

  SY  could umpire although standing for a couple of hours at a time may be problematic.

  Dazzza I'd see as the fella who turns up at the pub post match with a couple of fitties, just to show a bit of willing and would turn out if completely necessary.

  Asher certainly wont be involved and can't see Dex on a cricket pitch....Marie I suspect is very good, and could if persuaded keep wicket and bat at 8.

  Whits.....would act as fixture secretary and treasurer turning out reluctantly......Magic Roundabout will sign up for the tour to Amsterdam, as its a favourite destination for club sides.

  Ralphy and Sadie will find a quiet corner to watch and roll about in the grass.

  Simon Pieman wont be around as its in the hols.

  Jan Aage.....may be a player but wont admit to it as cricket is an English game.

  Blinkpip will bat three, and shock everyone with  his mature cover drive.

The main requirement is impartiality....then an ability to count to six....everything else you can give to the batsman as benefit of doubt.

 I saw myself in that role,  replacing "piss poor Aussie" with "strong Continental"........I would be happy to be substituted when the opposition give it a "bit of tap" when the shine wears off.the new ball.

Well, it seems we need a striker for the football, me being 6'4", and Johno's undoubted crossing ability from the left, I think I could cause some trouble.

As for the cricket, I understand the game quite well, but can't really play it.  I've seen a day of Barbados vs New Zealand at the Kensington Oval (Barbados), now I was mighty impressed with the locals drinking copious amounts of rum, and making a hell of a lot of noise using konch shells.  I reckon I could fill this role if there is room for it.

As left back is taken, i'll take right back, seeing as i'm right footed anyway.

reg mate, for the cricket team i'd open the bowling and be number 11 batting  :D  opened the bowling for wiltshire a few times. got 3-6 once...inspiring  8)

Why would a bunch of football fans want to play cricket against fans of a rival football team???

A game of football would make a little more sense perhaps?
