Whats everyone having for this?  I suppose Turkey is traditional but Im having Guinea Fowl and Duck Breast this year.  8)

I have also decided that as I dislike Xmas Pudding and Xmas Cake I'm going to drink some extra red wine to make up for it.

Just went in and got mine this morning

Gressingham duck breast

Roast potatoes with rosemary

Steamed mixed veg

Dinner for one this year

All traditional for me:

Turkey
Stuffing
Carrotts
Brocolli
Peas
Sprouts
Roast Parsnips
Roast Potatoes
Lashings of cranberry sauce

Forgot the pigs in blankets though  :(

I refused to cook it this year then my mum said something about having a vegetarian dinner.

I soon put her in her place, so we're having turkey  :)

   That a ready meal then Fred?  Stick it in the microwave?

The only thing going in the microwave will be the steamed veg Reg

the rest will be good old fashioned roasted

fish and chips i expect, Mrs is working til god knows when so its me and the dog. I think that i will load her in the back of the jeep and we will go shooting for the day...i am such a sad bastard .

I'm a traditionalist so i'll be having Turkey with all tut' trimmings and i like Christmas Pud so it's happy days.

Plenty of invites mate, but I'm going to be upset enough as it is and I didn't think it was fair on anyone that I was with, so politely declined.

We have a German Christmas dinner as every year, but instead of having it tomorrow and rushing, we are having it tonight

 I've always understood that it is an unknown.....so there have been different dates in different strands of Christianity according to tradition....for example the Copts of Egypt still I believe celebrate in January.

  There are elements within Eastern Orthodoxy, who still reject the Gregorian Calendar,  devised about 400 years ago,  following the Julian calendar, so fuck knows when they have Christmas.

 Perhaps the key element, was the despatch of Augustine by Pope  Gregory around the 600's to convert the Saxons in England.  Gregory it is always thought advised Augustine to make use of traditional pagan festivities and bolt on Christian events....hence the Winter solstice, was used as a suitable date for Christmas.

Over at mothers now for a traditional turkey CD with all the trimmings, then got to do it all over again for our own one tomorrow.

Eating about 7pm tonight, it's going to take alot of effort to stay in with the family and not slope off down the pub.

i'm having turkey, beef, roast spuds, parsnips, carrots, beans, cauliflower in white sauce, broccoli, roast shallotts, cabbage, leeks, stuffing x 3, gravy, xmas pud, ice cream, coffee, brandy, brie, stilton, camembert, red leicester, double gloucester, cheddar and then a whiskey.

with about 4 bottles of wine.
