Post by: sonic youth on Wednesday, December 19, 2007, 19:57:49 i suffer from them and nothing helps, i just dose myself up on co-codamol and ibuprofen. otherwise lying down in a darkened room.
a lot of the over the counter stuff like migraleve only contain anti-nausea drugs in addition to your run of the mill painkillers, so generally aren't worth trying IMO Title: Migraine! Post by: BANGKOK RED on Wednesday, December 19, 2007, 20:05:49 I have sympathy for anybody who suffers actually, afetr seeing my misses with it last night it is clearly extremely painful and no laughing matter.
SY, do you suffer from this "Aura" thingy as well: bad stomach, mis-conception of shape and size, distorted lines ect? Title: Migraine! Post by: lebowski on Wednesday, December 19, 2007, 20:07:21 bangkok red,
a friend of mine gets a similar problem when he eats chinese food. apparently it's the msg, and too much of it sets him off. it's bloody funny when it happens because he can't see anything and has to be carried about. Title: Migraine! Post by: lebowski on Wednesday, December 19, 2007, 20:08:05 i appreciate that my little story is of no use to you whatsoever though.
sorry. Title: Migraine! Post by: sonic youth on Wednesday, December 19, 2007, 20:09:21 i don't get the aura thing, just splitting pain right through my head. a lot of people get nausea and other symptoms, i just get a loss of appettite - which is a big deal for me :D
Title: Migraine! Post by: BANGKOK RED on Wednesday, December 19, 2007, 20:09:46 Doe's help actually, cos it confirm's something that wikipedia said.
Cheers. Title: Migraine! Post by: swindon_chick on Wednesday, December 19, 2007, 20:12:34 I get them now and again, used to get them frequently but not so much these days. Only thing that really worked with me was to sleep them off and to drink lots of water. I also had some medicine called Sanomigrannelixa (something like that) but it made very tired.
Title: Migraine! Post by: sonic youth on Wednesday, December 19, 2007, 20:15:55 ooh yeah, shitloads of water does wonders for me whenever i have headaches in general...which is most of the time to be fair

Although I now realise that there is no cure/treatment for it, at least I have a better understanding of what is going on. BR Title: Migraine! Post by: sonic youth on Wednesday, December 19, 2007, 20:25:08 it's also hereditary, apparently!

Title: Migraine! Post by: donkey on Wednesday, December 19, 2007, 21:45:06 Been suffering form them for years, even get them so bad I can get paralysed down one side.
The first thing to do is figure out what triggers them (mine are from not eating regularly and having low sugar in the blood - as a result I eat regularly (some might say too regularly!) and ensure I get enough energy if I'm playing football, for example). Second get something from the Doc. I now have Migramax which works really well. I've been out of action for four days with migraines before, but last time Igot one (on a Sunday lunchtime) I was in work the next day. I also drink Lucazade, eat chocolate and go to sleep. But, most important is to find the trigger. Hope that is of some use. Title: Migraine! My misses had another migraine attack this morning, and after reading many items on the net saying that coffee helps she tried a cup. It worked a treat, and almost instantly. Title: Migraine!
