Title: Team for the weekend?
Post by: sonic youth on Wednesday, December 5, 2007, 09:21:03
we're seriously depleted now.

available:

Brezovan, J Smith, Easton, Corr, McGovern, Comminges, Nicholas, Aljofree, Blackburn, Pook, Paynter, Sturrock, Mohammed, Allen, Cox

unavailable:

P Smith, Vincent, Peacock, Ifil, Roberts, Zaaboub, Adams, Tozer

unsure: Williams (is he fit?), Almeida, Anzite and Arrieta (still at the club and/or registered?)

Code:

                   Brezovan

Smith       Aljofree    Blackburn    Nicholas

Comminges   Pook        Easton       McGovern

            Cox         Corr

subs:
Scott
Allen
Mohamed
Paynter
Sturrock

so despite byrne's threats of dropping players, he can't actually drop anyone. whoops, that one backfired a bit eh?

"In terms of selection there is no way those players can come and knock on my door and ask why they are not in the side now."

Yes Paynter should start on the bench, slow and lazy.

Kaid Mohammed is carrying a knock Byrne said yesterday so I think hes doubtful too.

Think Mohamed is injured. What about Macklin?

Yeah Macklin must be in with a shout, I was very impressed with Nathan Thompson when I saw him in the reserves earlier in the season.

i presume we can register yoof players even under a transfer embargo? as it stands we've got one keeper, one midfielder and three strikers...

i'd be wary of sticking youngsters in at the deep end. one or two might be ok but anymore would unbalance the side

Williams will have to be on the bench surely? Last 10 perhaps?

I think he will have no choice but to risk Williams for the whole game, and yes throwing in youngsters can be very damaging to their progress as well as the teams, yes it can work sometimes but more often than not to have so many in the team can be men against the boys.....

Bring on the Byrne Babes!

If Ady can play, Blackburn could be another option for midfield.

Also when will Peacs be fit?

Although Williams isnt my favourite player, we need experience at the back and hes going to have to get out there and try and stabalise the back 4 otherwise we are in for another loss without a doubt.

Yes you have proved you can get good results at Swindon but you had a catastophic failure at Lille in France, you understand if you come that Dong Fangzhou will not be tempted to sign for you and that we at Swindon DO NOT have superkeepers!  :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:

Blackburn looked very assured when he came on. I'd be surprised if he didn't start.

Brezovan, J Smith, Easton, Corr, McGovern, Comminges, Nicholas, Aljofree, Blackburn, Pook, Paynter, Sturrock, Mohammed, Allen, Cox

Brez in goal

J Smith, Aljofree, Williams/Blackburn and Nicholas at the back

McGovern, Easton, Pook and Comminges across the middle

Corr and Cox up front

Bench: Scott, Blackburn/Williams, Allen, Paynter, Sturrock/Macklin (depending if Byrne wants 2 strikers on the bench or not)

So.................................

The Goalkeeper in goal, the midfielders in midfield and the forwards upfront?

It's innovative, but it just might work

I did consider an 8-1-1 formation with Cox, Allen, Scott, Blair, Pook and Macklin all at centre back, but it just seemed a bit too safe
