To whom it may concern

You won't be surprised to hear that I am writing in respect of the (non) refuse collection that has taken place this week in Ermin Street (in between Crown Inn and Estate Agents on the corner)

You've known for months now that the day of the collection was changing to a Wednesday from a Monday and also the fact that our properties weren't going to be receiving wheelie bins.

So what happens?

We don't get issued with these nice and shiny blue sacks until a couple of days before the 1st Wednesday collection! By which time people have filled their black sacks and have already put them out IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE!

So then what happens?

Well, I start wondering to myself, as it's the 1st week, they'll surely collect these anyway and then from next week, they'll be strict and make a point of collecting blue sacks only.  But no, they decline to collect these black sacks, some of which have been out in the street for over a week now.

I then start thinking, well, maybe they'll do a sweep up of all these bags come the end of the week, so today, I decide to phone your 'Help' Line to find out.

Spoke with a pleasant enough girl called Gillian who gave all the standard speak and empathy statements like 'yes I can understand how you feel' etc...only to then find out that any black sacks are not going to be collected not just today, but not even next Wednesday when the collection is due.

Call me unreasonable, but I don't expect rubbish to be sat OUTSIDE MY HOUSE indefinitely, until someone from above decides that 'we best collect those black bags as we're getting too many complaints about this, we can't handle call volumes and our council reputation is on the line here etc...'

I do hope you've got every intention of not only acknowledging this complaint within 48 working hours, but providing me with an adequate and satisfactory response about this issue, and I don't want a standard 'copy and paste letter' you'll probably try and fob me off with either.

Ok, so you're now probably thinking how I want this matter resolved to a satisfactory conclusion, to which I'd say.....

COME AND COLLECT THESE RANCID STINKING BAGS FROM OUTSIDE MY FUCKING HOUSE, OR THIS IS GOING TO GET MESSY!

I suggest collecting the bags and dumping them on the steps of the Civic Offices.....same problem where I live, although I suspect it may be because of the Poles not being able to understand the instructuions issued by  SBC  about black bags/blue bags.....Wednesday morphing to Thursday...and the pavenent nearest to your property.

I dont understand why they can't just do everything simply. Just have one collection a week, one bag full of recyclable rubbish, the other full of normal rubbish. Maybe thats whats supposed to happen, i dont really know. Its all too much to comprehend

Not being funny, but you could just pick up the full black bag and put it into a blue one. I know it's not your problem but at least they would be collected next week!

having spent the last three days with a fella who runs a council refuse collection service I think everyone should stop moaning and image how much of a pain in the arse it is to pick up the tons and tons of rubbis from everyone and then get rid of it!!!!

does anyone recyle, compost, reduce etc do they fuck they throw it in the bin then out on the street and forget about it!!!1

take a minute to think about what has to happen to your rubbish then you might  have another view!

as for your letter I receive letters like that all the time moaning and swearing at me and you know what I do I put them in the bin.

If it such a problem why don't you just put the black bags in the blue sacks but off course you are taking the stance that it's not my problem but I'm gonna moan like fuck about it. stop moaning and do something prodcutive!

ive sent this ... as its disgusting .. thats what we pay our taxes for .. the wheelie bins are a joke too!! Collection only once every 2 weeks!!!! What about when you throw a party? We already pay too much in tax so the least they can do is pick up the bloody rubbish!

i live in old town and just had the same thing happen, I just put my black bag in a blue bag and it got collected. There are a lot of black bags still down our street though, I imagine they will be there until next thursday.

You should have told the bint at the end of the phone that it's a health hazard and they need to collect it right away. Just lie and say you've seen rats around there or something - they'll have to remove them then.

I guess the term refuse collection is a great irony of the English language.

I did say there'd been cats around there and I said, it'll be rats next. She was basically programmed to say the standard shit. I said I wanted to take it further, then she put me through to recycling dept then was on hold for about 15 minutes (no doubt, not even a remote possibility that the phone would've been answered) before deciding fuck this and then sent my informative letter to them

Compared to the number of rats I saw in Southampton, Swindon is fine. Although I've seen a few rats around fleming way. Horrid.

Sorry but I cant stand peopel who moan now things effect them.  Take talk talk for example, he only didnt want the stadium as it was close to his house.

This Blue bag thing seems to have effected a fair few people though all over swindon... the problem being SBC only delivered the bags a couple of days before they stared collections... at leas with the bins they were weeks ahead so ppl had time to adjust etc

Most people have an abundance of bags, yet the council say you must use their sacks and pay them 20p a pop, because "they're easier to tear open". Oh do fuck off. You're making money you cunts.

Secondly, it annoys me that we have to produce more unrecyclable plastic bags to recycle plastic bottles? Wtf? This is wrong and doesn't make sense you stupid robbing cock sukers.

Oh the council bin their computer systems, in full every 2-4 years and get a complete refit. They can't be given to charity or recycled because they have to be skipped to enable them to justify new computers when the old were working.

The only gripe I've got is that they keep making changes to our service (like collection days) but my house is the only one that doesn't get a leaflet telling me about it. Other than that, this recycling stuff is a piece of piss.

1. Take the bags to the tip yourself
2. Wait for council to collect.

Where I live the bags often get split open by foxes not just my bags buut my neighbours bags and when rubbish is strewn all over my cul- de- sac I don't moan to the counicl to come tidy it up i pick it up and sort the problem my neighbours do the same.

I was a little angry on Friday night, I wasnt drunk but had to go to bed as was up at 7am for the train.

I have previously contacted my local councilor if I had any issues with the council etc and he has usually been very helpful and got things sorted, maybe you should drop yours a line explaining things and see what he can do.

To those that are saying about dropping the black bags into blue bags, if jimbob did that then he would use up part of his blue bag allowance and what would he do with his rubbish come Feb when he has run out of blue bags as they don't take black bags and you can't buy extra blue bags ?
