Title: Hotel Rwanda
Post by: Amir on Friday, April 8, 2005, 13:46:14
I went to see this last night, and I'd recommend everyone to see it.  Has anyone done so?

Based around a true story of a hotel manager in Kigali during the 1994 genocide, and his attempt to save the refugees who had fled there.  It's a true inditement of the west's indifference towards anywhere that has no wealth to offer us.

The most poignant moment for me is when the lead character says to a british journalist that the world will have to intervene now they have seen pictures of the massacre, and the journalist tells him  people will say 'Oh, how awful', and then go on eating their dinner.

I'll have to make the effort to see it.

In all honesty, I've been a bit crap since you've been away Amir. Amelie was top of my list to see, as you gave it a rave review.

Bought the DVD, but it's still in the packaging  :?

Some people consider Amelie to be a chick flick.  I think it's a superb film myself.  Let me know what you think :D

Amelie is an awesome film... The Very Long Engagement was pretty cool too.

I liked Hotel Rwanda... It's pretty simple as far as filmmaking goes ... Which is a good thing in this case. Very good acting by Cheadle.

I just finished watching it, and i must say, it's the most powerfully emotive film i have ever seen. I consider myself to have a strong stomach for shocking cinema, but i had to turn away in several parts.

10/10- Cheadle was fantastic

Bought Hotel Rwanda on DVD at the weekend. But as with Amelie, it's still in the packaging.

Got myself some DVD viewing/catching up to do at the weekend!
