I still can't escape the nagging feeling that since I've been going, we've lost to a non league club in each decade....60's Kettering,  70's Tooting,  80's Dagenham, 90's Stevenage.......

So far in the 00's we haven't,  we've got 3 seasons left....any league club will do for me.

I remember Tooting, Daggers and Stevenage well but I also remember the converse of Kettering away 7-0, Bromley home 7-0 in the same period not to mention a few 4 and 5-0 wins as well.

And yes Hertha Exeter or Yeovil would be really good but as you say I would love the Pox.

Rushall are a lower league team from Walsall as are Chasetown(Walsall/Litchfield border), I wonder what the odds are of 3 teams from Walsall being in the first round of the cup

Why Oxford away?

I'd much rather have them come visit the County Ground, I honestly think we'd put 6 or 7 past them the way things are going.

Trouble is, it's a cup final for them playing a big team like Swindon, and our players will probably get complacent so it could be a recipe for disaster... Wouldn't mind one of the Wiltshire teams, would be nice to have a proper county derby in a game that actually means something!

   I'd like to get Merthyr......

I recall Keith East putting 4 past them in a 5-1 win in 65....the following week he put 5 past Mansfield.   Only time I've seen 5 from one player in a game, but I have seen a few 4's, would be nice to see Paynter or Cox do something similar.

I quite fancy an away game at a conference team, FGR would be good as we could well and truly out number the home support.

Otherwise the Pox at home as I'm probably one of only a few on here who have not experienced the delight.

Actually I've managed to find possibly the cheapest pub in London, near to where I was working this week, so that wouldn't work out too bad.

A hot baguette and a pint of Strongbow for £3.89. Bliss.

I was pondering this earlier. It's just off High Holborn, so I reckon a short walk from there to Holborn and onto the Piccadilly line to South Ealing. Failing that, Bakerloo line to Waterloo and get a train to Brentford station. In other words, it's pretty damned good.

I probably shouldn't mention this but a double and mixer (Smirnoff, Gordons, Bacardi, Southern Comfort etc) is only £2.29.

A good find considering the location is usually pricey!

Tooting and bloody Mitchum, Jimmy (Walter) Gabriel on loan from Bournemouth was in defence for the Town, I think.  Weren't the Town were winning 2:0 with about ten minutes to go, and then lost the replay.   Tooting management were on MoTD with David Coalbucket absolutely delighted.  One of the lowest points in history, along with the 3:1 home loss to Oxford, which still causes emotional distress.

At least against Stevenage (Graz scored?), there was a gale blowing, and it was a stick in the eye for Macca.

Which pub would this be Si? What with living on High Holborn it would be handy to know!!! Unfortunately the Shakespeare's Head (Wetherspoons) on Kingsway has become our "local"  :?

It's "The Goose" which is next to the WH Smith on Leather Lane (near Chancery Lane tube station but walking towards St Pauls).

There's a statue type thing of a Goose outside  :?

But it's actually an alright pub, certainly Wetherspoon esque, but it has pool tables downstairs and some tellies to show sky on. Dunno what it's like in the evening though.

Well no we won't. But a couple of easy wins into the third round and playing against a prem club is great!

Palace away was great.

Tbh i really don't care. Playing a prem team means nothing to me unless it's a league game. It's nothing special at all.

Bollocks! An away game against a big club is great for a day out on the lash and a laugh. Somehow being the small underdog makes it better too.

I appreciate this happens on a Saturday for lots of pissheads (:)) but some of us have our away days on ration.

On the footy front there is always a 100-1 chance of causing an upset. It also boosts the coffers too. And lets be honest, playing in the Prem is a pipe dream for us. Making such cup occasions even more special.

Agree with Batch on this one. To some it's just another game but when you can't get to games too often it can be great. Palace away last year was class too  :D

I'll certainly be at Wycombe and will hopefully be taking a few foreigners from uni who want to see the "joys" of the FA Cup. Hopefully I can prove to them that there is life outside the Premiership!!

Think that's something like 7 seasons in 8 we've had Wycombe in a cup competition...the game 4 years ago, was a classic...Tony Adams running on the pitch, getting abuse from Town fans who were a third of the crowd...but a Gorman schooled side passed us off the park...as soon as Adams took over , they got relegated..we won there 3-0 later in the season.

Causeway stadium is the best ground in England for birdspotting.

Certainly not the worst draw....not in the same league....not non league...and close enough.

  Ohh and the White Horse.

That may be true, but I missed the first half of the draw so I didn't even know if we were out yet. Making the odds much more severe.

Hmm, it would seem I am about the only person who thinks this isn't too bad a draw.
Wycombe = Pretty poor oposition, not far to go for an away day (even though the ground is a shit hole to gat too) and the chance to get close to out numbering the home fans.
Oh well I supose Carlise away would have been the prefered choice

That was different  :D

I'm not expecting this to be an easy game though, especially if we struggled against Port Vale. On a good day we'll be on form and stick 3 or 4 past them - but equally it could prove a difficult tie

 :shake:

Breaks my heart when I see an attitude like that from a Swindon fan. Expect it from the likes of Reading and Charlton and Cheltenham and basically any other set of fans who dont have a clue about football.

Sickening.

Time was 10 years ago that the Cup was every fans top priority. Its just that buzz of not having a clue who you are going to get next. Everyone ringing other up after the draw and arrangeing who's going to get the train tickets? is he getting a coach? Meet at 7am for a beer? Magic. Its just sooo special to see everyone making the effort. And when you get 2000 fans up north (somewhere we would usually take 300) you tell me in one of those cauldrons that the FA Cup is a piece of shit? You see a different side to those teams. Its like having a local derby with a team 300 miles away. Norvern league games are shit. Not the FA Cup. And in a way its a self fulfilling prophecy, because the boring spazzers like you dont go, leaving it to all the old lads and that.

Come on Swindon. We really should do them this year.

We cant play them next round if we knock them out.

I hate to break it to everyone, but there are only so many teams out there. Ive been to Wycombe 5 times, Brentford about the same. Some fans I know have been to certain away grounds 15-20 times.

Southern away tie. Good away end. Accomodating home fans. What more dya want?

Its an ok draw for us....aside from the stripper pub being on the way to the ground and the fact i'm not going

I wanted to stick up for Rich and his not being bothered about the FA cup, he's wrong of course but its up to him.Not everyone subscribes to your view of what a 'real' football fan should be or act like.

Some of us have breasts for a start

The FA cup is indeed magic.

But only if your not the club being put out by the plucky non-leaguers :( I still get shivers at the thought of Stevenage.Sometimes on windy days i remember the pointless hoofs that Fraser Digby kept on perserving with and that we could all see were going to end in tears, and us going out[shudder].
