Title: House Hunting
Post by: Fred Elliot on Thursday, October 11, 2007, 18:28:40
Well, pretty much all of you know my predicament/situation, and that my house is now sold.

As sad as it is, life needs to go on regardless.

Just got a phone call that one of the oldest cottages in Stratton has come on the market today, has just been professionally renovated to a very high spec.

Added plus, is that it is directly opposite Jennas best friend, so they can go to school and chill after school together.

It suits mine and Jenna's needs more than completely and is an absoloute steal price wise.

I have an appointment to look at it tomorrow so fingers crossed.

How much is it on the market for if you don't mind me asking?

Would be good to compare to prices round here.

Years ago when I moved back to Swindon, I used to rent a place down there...its quite an interesting corner.....used to be a little bakery, along Ermine Street, which was  8) and the Wheatsheaf was a good basic local boozer....I had some good times down there, but needed to move to Old Town, when having a local difficulty with the law.

Ahhh

now you are talking to a 4th generation Strattonian

The bakery would have been Ross's  you would have had to go passed the Jacobs Ladder (no closed and turned to flats) to get there.

Anyway, the daughter of Mr Ross, used to be in my tutor group, and all I am going to say is that I got my cream splits on the way home from school for free

I keep looking at this thread in excitement that Fred’s been horse hunting in the backyard of France.

Images of Black Beauty (with theme tune)  taking one to the forehead have been drifting through my mind all day.

Oh and best of luck Fred with the house move.

those houses on ermin street are very close to the road.would they shake a bit or suffer from traffic noise?

my reason for asking is because my old house was a good 30 feet from the road, but we still suffered from the effects of buses passing by

My aunty used to live in the second house from the end, literally 2 foot from the road and only 10 foot from the roundabout. Not a fucking peep. Those houses were built to last, nothing like the wooden modern shit they build these days.
