If they put our council tax down then fair enough but all this recycling lark is getting on my nerves, bring back the days of putting everything in the bin.

i think the recycling thing is a good idea and should have started years ago.

We've all got two of the fuckers each out the front. One week they collect household crap, the next week stuff that can be recycled (I think).

The whole street looks an absolute mess.

We've had ours for ages. The wheelie bin is ok, but I'd much prefer a recycling wheelie bin as well - like they have in other places.

Problem with the tubs is that they're so bloody small. We had to buy an extra one to cope but actually only use one most weeks now

peoples problems are that you are getting a reduced service when council tax has risen in swindon by nearly 50% in 4 years. It's a fucking joke. I pay for soeone to collect my rubbish, that someone should be sorting and recycling it, not me.

I live in walcot, things left outside is a big no no :D . Arriba my problem is being told what to do all the time. I ride my bike everywhere and my rubbish is being picked up twice a month now how does that justify £100 odd a month

The whole point of the fortnightly collections is to get people to recycle more and generate less general waste.

but you aint getting a reduced service though.infact your getting a better one.its only the stuff that goes to landfill being cut from weekly to fortnightly.all paper, bottles and cans ect are being sorted and collected weekly.

But i dont want to sam thats the point.There is no evidence to suggest that this will work and within 12 mnths it will be a mess.As much as i try and defend where i come from the little dick heads round parks and walcot will have a field day with these bins

ive had it for 3 years in west swindon, you lot didnt give a fuck when we got ours, not a problem is it when its not in your own garden

agree on council tax, I dont:- use libraries, public sports centres (pay f£5 an hour for footy when we play) schools anything.  Even the roads are paid for by tax on cars! Cuntish england

Um the sports facilities are subsidised by council tax are they not?

i was told that only the council owned golf courses make a profit.all their other sports faciltys lose more money  han they make.dunno how true that is though

I think the recycling is a good thing,I quite enjoy doing it as well  :oops: I effectivly get 3 collections a week at the moment.

I think recycling is good too.  It takes a matter of minutes and everyone should be made to do it.

Recycling is good .. BUT sending extra lorries around the streets to collect the various bits is crazy .. we now have 3 different collection lorries in a week - how is that good for the environment?.. altho bins are going to be cut to 2 weeks collections but this is equally mad

A wheelie bin can only takes 3 bags (over 2 weeks!!) - so if you have a few friends round for a party for just one night thats the whole week of the bin full up in one go ...

also waiting two weeks will lead to more vermin than ever .. im leaving the extra bags I produce that dont fit in the wheelie next to the bin .. if they dont take it im not picking it up ... it can stay there and rot .. if anyone asks .. nothing to do with me ..

After all we pay council tax to have the council collect our rubbish so why should I pay more to drive it to the tip when they cant be bothered to give the people the appropriate equipment for it to be collected in.

If you've got extra rubbish just take it to the tip. End of.

It's ok! they did the trial in west swindon, you dont leave anything outside in toothill either, but should your bin get stolen or set on fire (the most common) all you have to do is call up the police station and get an incedent number and you will get another delivered for free  :?

I dont mind recycling at all, but i worry about the old and unable trying to pull those stupid things around cos if they are not right out in the street they wont take them.
