Was the equivilent of Carling/Fosters/Stella when I lived in Karlsruhe. Despite all their faults, Jerry does know how to make lager. It was a massive shock coming back to the likes of Carling etc.

I was going to question why Magners was in the Beer/Lager category also.

In my opinion the Germans brew finer and stronger lager than us.

Luxembourg beer is rank.

The thread is for favourite beer though - I generally drink Carlsberg of Carling if I'm out for a night as they're a cheaper option.

If I'm just going in for one or two then they might as well be good ones.

Double Dragon - hmmmm dark Welsh nuttiness
6x - I think out of loyalty to the Wiltshire roots
Morrells Varsity - (what always used to be called "wood" in the Beehive for some reason, as I'm sure it came out of a steel keg like everything else)

Wood...was a term coined by the legendary Noel Riley to convey a meaning that it was real ale...it just stuck.

You still get an occasional beer snob, who comes in and asks for a pint of Woods  :wanker:

I tend to drink guest ales, half the time I can't remember what they're called.

Elsewhere....if its midweek, then Carling slips down, without causing a problem next  day, if on the lash doing  a round of pubs, then its best to stick to lager....any strong one will do.

Just been out to do my weekly shop, low and behold, Pilsner Urquell is 3 for £4 in Asda.

That's me sorted for the night, along with 2 free Carlsbergs from work and a cheap bottle of red.

i have a tip to let the red breath in double quick time.

pour it from the bottle, into a decanter, and then back into the bottle.

careful.
