...Dave Grohl is funny as fuck

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=mqL-YNyxFd0

Well I reckon anyway.

Quite like his Tiny Dancer cover too, also available via any good internet video uploading websites.

Right let's put this to the vote.

Does Dave Grohl get the TEF stamp of approval, or a TEF stamp on the head?

Am I the only person who had no reaction to that clip whatsoever?

If some one could explain what the point of it was I would be most grateful. You know, like what was I suppose to laugh at and what I was supposed to be annoyed at.

Thanking you in advance for you assistance in this matter :?

Just whether you find the bloke entertaining or not.  I didn't post it as a "wow look at Dave Grohl, this is amazing" just wondered what the general opinion of the bloke is.

I do think he's pretty funny in this clip though.

Love him.

Probably has something to do with the fact I was mad on Nirvana for most of my early teens.

Like Janaage said, he's a great entertainer. I like him better for his musical abilities that his comedy though.

Whenever I've seen the Foo's they don't just come out play a set and then walk off.  They entertain the crowd, they give of the impression that no two gigs are the same, the way Dave interacts with the crowd makes it an experience not to forget.

Which is why I think the bloke is a legend.

I wonder what it is about being very rich and spending his time making music, that enables him to enjoy life. Someone should burn all his cash and stick him in a boring office job for a few weeks, that'll wipe the smile of his face.

I voted knob jockey, not because I particularly dislike the man, I'm sure he's a very nice chap. I just feel that he's closer to being a knob jockey than he ever will be to being a legend.

I could never understand all this audience interaction gubbins. I used to love going to watch bands, but as I got older I found myself checking my watch to see if I could get to the pub in time for last orders. I've seen a lot of bands in my time and I can honestly say I've never come away from a gig thinking 'Wow! That audience interaction was awesome!' Infact the best bands I saw were the ones who would walk on, get their heads down, and then shuffle off.

Each to their own Spacey.  I hate seeing bands who just come on, play some music then leave.  If I wanted that I'd just put on one of their cd's.  I want to be entertained and if that's Grohl having a laugh when the electric fused, or Taylor doing a decent drum solo then that's fine.

Like the Chilli's much better when John Frusciante decides to sing an off the wall cover, than them just rattling out the same old shit.

I realise I shouldn't have used "legend" I didn't really mean to, the question should just be do you like dave grohl, yes or no.

i think he's a knobjockey.

he's been in a massively over rated band, then a band that is good at spewing out mundane stadium rock with no meaning or heart.

he's not amusing or a particularly a good speaker.

he can grow a beard or a pair of chops though.

That's just crazy talk. It's like saying that the only reason you go and see a band is because you want them to acknowledge that you exist. You'll be wanting a Q&A session and scampi in a basket next.

What the fuck is american rock and college rock? Since when were Nirvana fucking college rock, most genres are just some lazy journalists trying to lump a few vaguely similar bands together and they're totally pointless so there's nothing to kill off. Why do you care what genre something is, it's either good or not. You seriously pay attention to this stuff. oooh I must pretend to hate this song because I don't like this genre, what a load of bollocks.

Nirvana were a fucking good band and In Utero was one of the best albums of the 90s, they weren't overrated,  just good.

i think they are deriding the name 'Penguin' as a force in the swinmming world. I'll happily admit it is a bit of a crap name, but I only swam in the actual team a handful of times.

It had never struck me as funny before until Luci, Fred and Si pissed themselves on the train.

Bit like when a friend visited swindon and saw the name on most of the car dealerships around town.

instead of genres i'll slim it down to-if i don't like it, or can't see any point in it then it's shite and deserves to be killed off. like nirvana

Now I know you're taking the piss.

only towards bwb, anyone else who doesn't write like they're an outraged 15 year old i'll happily debate with on this
Ironic really because your college rock deserves to be killed off nonsense sounds exactly like something a 15 year old would write whereas I simply highlighted what a jumped up retard you sounded like.

I'm like Bennett in that I tend to disregard 'genres' and instead just tend to buy it if I like it.
That's not like Bennett, that's like me, that's the exact opposite of what he was saying by this genre deserved to be killed off etc.

I like Nirvana but they weren't 'special'. There were plenty of bands who Nirvana borrowed ideas off (read: "copied"). Of course even the best bands do this, but they are not musical geniuses for that reason.

I'd much prefer to listen to something with a bit of originality, even if it's been heavily influenced by other artists/sounds. The likes of Hendrix who was a great fan of Dylan but made his Dylan covers sound his own.

I guess you could tie this into stuff like 'college rock' as it's really just endless mounds of copied crap. It's a shame that some of my favourite bands have even changed their sounds to fit a mould and sell records. Bands like The Offspring for example.

Why so much hate for Dave Grohl? Very talented guy and done some absolute classics over the years.

Totally agree. What a figure he has been for music. Anyone who puts him down needs to have their head checked. You may not like his music but his contributions to the music world have been matched by few and far between.
