Is anybody actually going to pay anything for it?

Apparently you can get the download for 1p on a "pay what you think it's worth" preorder

http://www.inrainbows.com/Store/Quickindex.html

but the site is buggered and I wouldn't be suprised if it is a scam anyway!

That's how they're releasing it. You decide how much you pay for it. Was on 6music news earlier.

How anyone can like radiohead is beyond me. Its suicide music.

I quite like radiohead. And bridges too. I wonder if I should combine the two activities.

Radiohead can be a bit depressing, I think Blink182 would be more likely to make kill myself though. Or Green Day.

I'm not a huge fan either tbh. There is a lot worse than Radiohead though.

No music should make you want to kill yourself.

Although to be fair if I had to listen to Hip Hop any longer than about 10 minutes I would probably ask someone to shoot me.

Yes because it's ripping good artists and bands off if you don't. That's what pisses me off anyway.

I have to agree. Artists get fucked up the arse enough by their record labels without the fans ripping them off. £40 though for the boxed edition?? Fuck that, anyone know a good torrent site? :D

I will only buy CD's direct from bands or independate lables/shops.

wouldnt dream of spening my money in likes of hmv/virgin etc

Title: radiohead - in rainbows
Post by: Mexicano Rojo on Tuesday, October 2, 2007, 12:03:24
chubbs it makes no difference mate. labels get the same cut from hmv as they do from your local shop. its the deal that bands have with the labels thats important.

my deal is 50-50. cant see why it should be any other way.

I'd still rather the money go to independant record stores than places like HMV

I take my hat off to you. After all the shit that comes with releasing music and every man taking his percentage along the way, the artists are rarely left with anything, usually a huge debt from the initial advance, recording costs, etc.

heavyweight vinyl costs about 2p more than normal vinyl so not that great a fucking deal.

but it looks and feels much nicer  :D

and the set is limited to a few hundred copies i think, so its an investment like any other rareish records

i've not got the cash myself, skint as fook. should probably get a job soon

average price paid for this so far: £4.72

income so far: £1.3million

apparently.

so that's, what, about 250,000 downloads?

Heard it now, it's quite mixed. Really like weird fishes, some of them I'm not too keen on. Definitely not Radiohead's best album but it's pretty good.

me too, i'll download stuff to listen, if it's any good i'll by the cd for the sound quality. It's my way of saying to bands 'I'll only rip you off if you're shit'.

Yeah but there's no need to rip off radiohead because they're doing the awesome name your price thing. I think I'll give them a few quid for the download when I've got some money in my bank account.

No way near as good as the bends, I prefer Pablo Honey to be honest but it's maybe about as good as Amnesiac.

its not comparable to the bends at all, completely different style. think kid a but a bit more instrumental rather than electronic, plus a couple of more mainstream tracks.

i like 'all i need' best so far
