Can't wait for this. not been to an away game for a while and hopefully there'll be a decent turnout from us lot. I'd like to predict a 2-0 win and our first clean sheet of the season but its Swindon so you never can tell!

We do not have a very good record when we play at Millwall.
I'd be happy with another 1-1

League - Millwall v Swindon

Millwall Wins 22
Swindon Town Wins 3
Draws 14

2 - 0 I'm predicting a clean sheet and stunning MOTM from Phil Smith, partly because of the goings-on with Brezovan, and partly because of hi Millwall history.

Paynter and Roberts (if that cunt Sturrock finally drops Sofi) to score.

Yep 2-0 sounds good to me. Paynter'll get both.

2-1 to us.

1-1.  We will dominate in the first half an hour, miss a few chances and then score a goal.  Then we will sit back and then concede.  Millwall will start to dominate for a while, and in the last 15 minutes we will have 2 golden oppurtunities to score, but will miss them.

Happy Zaaboub has been dropped. Can understand Blackburn's exlusion after the addition of Collins. I think Comminges should have started again though. Smith needs a decent performance i feel.

They used to say after visiting Millwall at the old Den that the most your team would expect to take home was a share of the gate money.

No. According to the standard Customer Service response from PTV, they are having 'technical problems' again. What a fucking surprise.

I'm listening to the Millwall link though, which is working fine.

They're better than Brunel, even if they are biased blue...

The beeb are now asking about the nicest/friendliest ground you have ever been to. I remember going to Stamford bridge once, Chelsea Everton (A friend of mine was a Chelsea fan). We went to a pub before the match which was pretty much a 50/50 mix of Chelsea and Everton fan's, I was wearing my Swindon shirt and it appeared as though everybody wanted to talk to me about STFC.

I was stood in the away end (Terraces) with the Everton fans and the same again, dead friendly towards the Swindon fan (Yours truly). The atmosphere between the Everton and Chelsea fans was sheer banter, with no hostility. I remember that the chant of "Quasi, Quasi" by the Chelsea fans, Directed towards Peter Beardsley, was countered by the Everton fans with "Modo, Modo"

I can't remember the final score for sure, although I think that Chelsea won, but the atmos after the match was the same.

Maybe you just had ta be there, but it was a great day.

Although, I doubt that any Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham or Millwall fan would have a similar story.

First half wasn't great football but we were the better team and looked reasonably comfortable bar the odd moment. In the second half we were falling to pieces and the goal came from general stupidity in defence rather than being caught out I think. They piled pressure on us but Smity did well to keep a few chances out and then the Beast scored a goal almost as good as the one against Walsall to seal the points.

Overall it wasn't a great performance at all but Smith, Ifil and Collins did quite well on the whole. Cox worked his arse off but nothing much came from it as Paynter didn't seem to be having a great day. An away win is always good and that'll do for me!

Hmmm, that was tense - think I aged a couple of years inthat game.  Second half was an absolute shambles, Vincent was very poor in the 2nd half IMO.

Collins was good, Smith was inspired between the sticks - midfield was shocking - deffo the right choice to bring Pook in to make it a three in midfield.

Cox looked much less determined than usual - one moment in particular he was miles offside when he was Paynter's only option but made no effort whatsever to get back onside, which for me was just plain ignorance.

All in, didn't really enjoy that, but I'll take the 3 points and run home happy thank-you very much.  Up to 6th now!

I guess everybody sees a game differently!
You're right in that he wins the ball and keeps possession well but he didn't seem too effective to me today - perhaps because our midfield was non-existant most of the game and didn't give him enough support

Millwall was not intimidating what so ever. The atmosphere was shite from their fans. Have to say our fans were ace yesterday, According to the l&p fans our fans were very loud on the radio so that was great. Police overkill or what y-day? In any case the only intimidating part was everyone walking in stone silence under the train viaducts and dark alleys to the tube station and there being no OB around, the 5348583408503485 police were still looking after the 50 or so lads!

Title: Millwall v Swindon Town matchday thread
Post by: Bennett on Sunday, September 30, 2007, 09:12:39
what would you prefer the police to do? have 1 per group of normal fans and let themselves be over run by the lads who actually wanted to cause trouble?

i thought millwall were shite, but fair play to them they knew a long ball from defence between the centreback and fullback was a relatively good percentage ball so they kept on playing it (thank fuck it only paid off once)

i didn't think peacock did well until he sat on top of the back 4 when pook came on.

fullbacks-
one had decent cover the other had a lazy welsh git infront of him. i think i would have been as effective as vincent yesterday. he didn't make a strong challenge once (and the "sending off" was never ever ever a sending off. smith already had the ball). we may as well have gotten shakes to play there-same quality distribution, same ability to challenge, same crossing ability.
smith had nothing to stop the left winger running at him, roberts was never there to help. so making a big challenge wasn't an option. did well to set up cox's goal

strikers were ace. i thought cox ran himself out a bit too early but paynter did exactly what he needed to do and he did bloody well against shaw.

collins n ifil were ace. collins has composure on the ball and looks a big lad, which is exactly what we want alongside jerel.

all in all another good result that we made ourselves work hard for BUT it's another 3 points
i think this is my longest post ever  8)

"Wheres the wanker with the scarf"  :D

Great Result despite the performance.  Disappointed we seemed at times to prefer looking at the opposition with the ball rather than challenging them for it.  Thought Pook did well when he came on, some good distribution esp to Commingues and thought Collins did well for not playing in over a year.

All in all, good 3 points won, Commingues to start Tuesday for sure.

horrible scenes at london bridge before the game. all swindon causing the trouble. fucking traffic jams made me miss the first 20 minutes and the cox goal.  walking into the ground had some pikeys throwing bricks at me and my mate.

fucking horrible part of the world. wont be going back in a hurry.

If Vincent tripped the guy up then it's a free kick, can't complain about that. I thought the referee got it spot on but couldn't believe those who were saying Vincent should have been sent off. No way would the guy have got the ball

It was looking like we might have to judging by the amount that refused to take us there! Arseholes!

Our taxi took us to a street just round the corner so couldn't complain too much about that!
