Right, a friend is visiting for the whole day Friday, coming up Thursday night, who I met in Melbourne.

Lives in Marlow but not been to Swindon before (thank god).

I don't want to spend Friday in Swindon so any suggestions what I can do for the day that isn't stupidly expensive that is within 2 hours drive ideally?

I can't think of anything at all and weather is due to be not raining.

you could go to the tate modern, then see the terracotta army at the british museum, go to vinopolis and do some wine tasting, then in the evening go to see whoever is on at the jazz cafe in camden.

It's nice for a day trip, but wouldnt fill up your day - well i cant remember it taking too much time to get around. Warwick as a town is shite... about 10min drive away is Royal Leamington Spa, they have some lovely gardens and really nice little places to eat in the center...
