Incase anyone's wondering why he's not around, Andy's been taken ill to hospital today.

He collapsed earlier whilst shopping and is in A&E at the moment. I don't know anymore at the moment but will speak to his Dad in the morning.

I hope to god it's not serious

UPDATE

Andy's at home now, got let out at about midnight last night.

Docs don't know why he passed out but he took a hefty bang to the head when he fell.

I'm so relieved he's ok, the docs wouldn't have let him home otherwise.

Thanks for the good wishes guys.

Unfortunately I have been diagnosed as epileptic, the damage done to my tongue during the fit is far worse than the bump on my head.

I have to now inform DVLA and undergo an obligitory 6 month driving ban with no repeat seizures.

my brother has the condition and it started in his early 20s.but he has only had 3 seizures in total.now he's on tablets and hasn't had one for 4 years.
you will be ok fred as i'm sure it wont be a regular occurance for you and can be managed.

Ah mate thats fucking awful, my heart goes out to you, on the plus side....my missus was epileptic and hers cleared up as quickly as it came and my sister in law had the operation at frenchay to cure her epilepsy and came through with no side effects at all and is back driving fine after only about 6 months.

she only had to wait for 6 months not a year they must have changed the laws in the last year or 2 but to be honest mate its much better to be safe than dead due to a seizure while driving, and the tablets are damn good and work very very well in 90% of cases.

Best of luck to you.

They're looking for waiters at los gatos. You'd make a good barman. The Tips are immense on busy nights. The nice waitresses sometimes chip me in a bit if it's been a busy night.

Was busy enough tonight but a bit monotonous. So I wrote a song in my head.  It's called "Fred's got Ellie's Pepsi." I'm hoping I'll remember the in my head chord sequence tomorrow, it needs some playing about with (as do the lyrics) but I'm not supposed to play the guitar at 2am.

Well mate, I still love you for what it's worth.

I meant to ask you on Tuesday night (but you didn't go - headache?) - what's your company's legal HR stance on your condition?

Have they got anything about having a valid driving licence in your contract? If so, how does that work? I'm sure that medical conditions must override any clauses?

Yes, the valid driving license clause is there.

But they are also I.I.P AND ISO 9002, so there are internal measures etc.

In all honesty that is all bollocks !!!!

Sometimes I have worked 16 hour days for 12 days solid, slept in my office in Docklands and not seen my family because it needed doing.

Fuck all this HR crap, I want Stephen to say to me

"Andy, you have got me out the shit plenty of times. This time I'm going to make sure you are ok,  dont worry about it, this is what we are going to do................and you will not be hit in the pocket"

Just occasionally I end up working with someone who goes the extra mile, turns up for work with enthusiasm for the task and sees the job through with a sense of humour and I think "that person is worth 10 of the other feckless, buck-passing cunts that I usually get on projects"  You have a condition that as JJ has said, is easily controllable  in 90% of cases and if your boss doesn't realise what a contribution you make then it's his loss.  Cos someone else will end up with the benefit of your skills and motivational ability.  Good luck mate and hopefully catch you for a beer at the Gills game

Got to go to a meeting with HR next Tuesday  :?

I can then start sleeping at night again

Fred/Andy,

To be honest your employer, (if he isn't a complete cunt) should feel a certain sense of responsibility in this. As I said to you the other week it's that sort of workload and lifestyle that's always brought this shit on for me.

Anyway, unless you're in a post that CANNOT be done without a driving licence, (driving a bus or something) the employers on pretty fucking dodgy ground not keeping you on thanks to the new DDA.

Have a gander at the stuff on this link, there are contacts on the site that might be able to help if the bastards try to shaft you.

I have to say all my employers have always been very good, and I've had a couple of spells of being banned from driving (mind you both those times were when I was working in the NHS, so the attitude might be a bit more liberal)
