In the final now, and Adams will be back. Home leg is next Monday so get down the Abbey Stadium. There are 3 car loads of us going to Coventry as well the following Monday. Cant wait!!!

Yeah, speedway is ace. Ive tried getting scotty and steve to go before but no one ever seems interested.

The only time i would ever go is if they announced that it was a free bar all night.

What are the rules of Speedway?  I don't really get it but feel I should jump on the bandwagon as we are doing good.

How much is it to go?  Also, what are air horns?

I was and we were ! Jerzy Treskowski, Bobby McNeil, Rolf Gramstad, David Ashby, Rob Henry, Milan Spinka, Steen Mastrup & Geoff Bouchard were all rubbish (although Bouchard and Mastrup were superb triers!)

I'm trying to remember the nickname that David Ashby acquired for himself, due to his utter crapness, but it escapes me at the moment. My god he was shit.

We're unbeaten at home this season, and we're the only away side who's won at Coventry this season.

If we pick up a nice lead in the first leg, I think we'll win, as long as Adams is fit. Apparently Dick Mackey is helping to get him fit for the final.

It costs £15. What are air horns? Are you serious? They are the horns you here at footy matches sometimes although most places ban them due to the gases they use. Loads of people have them at speedway. They cost £6.

The rules simply are:

There are 15 races, each team will have 2 riders in each race. Each race consists of 4 laps.
1st = 3pts
2nd = 2pts
3rd = 1pt
4th = 0pts.

The team with the most points at the end wins. Or in this case its over 2 legs so the team with the highest aggregate score wins. There are other rules but for someone who has not been before thats about all you need to know. Its great fun and you will love it!

What is Speedway?

I've always thought they should replace bikes with midgets riding zoo animals. And instead of racing it should be a big death match. And instead of being called Speedway it should be called Zoo Animal Riding Midgets Mega Arena Death!!!!!

Until these changes are made they will not be receiving my custom.

What attendances are the Robins getting now?

Not as has high as they could be if they followed my suggestions.

It'd be better if they got some Biker Mice from Mars to race for the team

As much as I would love to be proved wrong, I think Coventry will win the grand final. We will probably win the home leg by 6-8 points and will get beaten by 10-12 down at Coventry.

Adams and Gjedde are in form and may score points at Brandon, but the rest of the team are pretty pants on their track and the new reserve Balinski and Andrew Moore will probably score nowt as Coventry have got quality all through their side.

As I said, hope I am wrong but our riders are getting injuries at the wrong time and this could prove our downfall as Richardson and Chrzanowski aren't fully fit either.

went last night and it was a strong performance. i think we can win it outright.

coventry are on an awesome run, and very strong - hopefully our riders used the last league meeting at their place last week to get a feel for the track.

last night was only 100 odd off the capacity, good crowd considering it was on tv.

Bob is right, we will win at ours but not by enough.

Hasn't been the same since a nasty injury earlier in the season although hopefully he should score as many as Mr Dependable though.

Great news that we are at full strength. Hopefully Balinski will continue his decent home form and the Chedder man will also continue his run of double figure scoring.

Make no mistake, we need to take a good lead to Brandon.

I can't see the attraction anyway, watching a load of blokes in leathers racing round the same track about 50 times,all seems a bit gay to me :wink:

Yes,or made the riders wear shorts,the possibilites are endless.But something really has to be done to make it interesting to people who don't enjoy the smell of petrol fumes and mud :wink:

I just watched a race and its good, its fast and each race is different! Would of gone if I didnt have footy.

First time watching speedway, it's great. 6 points isn't going to be enough though is it?

Unfortunately not. Coventry at home are a daunting prospect and we'll need something special to hold on to the 6 point advantage.

Stranger things have happened but if I was a gambling man it would all be going on the Bees  :cry:

We were unlucky with Richardson in the 15th heat but luckily go in ahead although I am lead to beleive Coventry are great at home. I noticed everything was plastered with Swindon Town FC.  :shock: jackets, starting flags, racing leathers etc. My uncle asked if the portugeezers had bought the speedway too for the housing development!

A lead is a lead. Speedway is an unpredicable sport so anything can happen.

the queues tonight were massive, the place was rammed. great atmosphere and some absolutely fantastic racing.

we are the only team to beat coventry at their place this season so it's still do-able, but i don't really think 6 points is enough of a lead to be honest.

The only team to beat them at home. Exactly. We are the only team that can. And we will.

I saw Michael Pook was in attendance.

First ever visit for me. Very enjoyable.

I watched Speedway also for the first time last night (at home with a bottle of wine mind) and really really liked it.  Very entertaining and looked like we had a decent backing.

I'd definitely go in the future.

I think Rosco was hoping Adams and Richardson could recreate their former piars racing glory, but on the night he should have gone with Charlie.

Swindon Robins have got a tremendous side at the moment and Leigh Adams is truly awesome. You have to be as hard as nails if you're going to be any good at that sport.

For him to race like that so soon after dislocating his shoulder at Reading was amazing and as for Lee Richardson and his cortisone injection in his groin - I'd rather not think about that :?

I suppose the odds are in Coventry's favour but we did beat them up there earlier in the season in an incredible meeting and you can't write those boys off.

Was a bit more packed than usual Monday thats for sure!!! Not used to queues like that to get in! Was a quality atmosphere though. Luck didnt really go our way though. Its going to be very close thats for sure. I think Balinski is the key man as last time we went there our 2 reserves let us down. Seba needs to find form fast as well!!! Bomber Harris was awesome for them last night, he was getting some serious speed! I still fancy us to nick it Monday though.
